Titleist u505 distance

I liked how this club set up for me at the store but was wondering how it compares in distance compared to a standard iron. Does it go further like a wood like hybrid or similar to a iron. Also read that the new version sound has improved over the previous. Save on the older or get the new model? Thanks!

My experience of the outgoing model is it is similar distance to a standard iron, just goes higher and is more forgiving.

 

I've not hit this years model but on looks it's a backwards step for me. I'll be sticking to the 2022 model and if I had to change, I'd be going with the 200 utility build for sure over U505, to me it's now more like a U507, so closer to the old U510 than midway between U500 and U510

Typically if you order graphite shafts they will play at a longer length than a standard iron, so you will hit it higher and further in general

 

I have a 20 degree U505 and it's longer in length than my 21 degree set iron. 

 

That is typically the biggest influence IMO, length of the club

Playing an older 20*Hybrid and a 25* 5 iron  so was trying to see if a 4 u505 would fit in there. Was missing a 190 club although I usually can take a little bit off with the hybrid. I was thinking if the u505 is longer than a steel shafted 4 iron, it might get up to 195-200.

Idk about new one but older one was awesome off the tee ....high, flat ball flight, and very powerful. I ultimately had to move on from it though because the large flat sole made me uncomfortable off the turf with it. But if the purpose is primarily off the tee, I can think of no better
