2 days to play help me

Traveling to scottsdale and playing grayhawk for 2 days as part of a tournament. The Saturday and sunday prior to the tournament (Monday, tuesday) I am looking to play 2 fun and solid courses. Staying near grayhawk but do not mind riding an hour or so to a course. Any suggestions as to where a group of 6 guys should go play prior to the tournament? Last year I played troon and tpc champions. Looking for 2 different courses this time. Has anyone played estrella? I am reading that their VIP package allows you to play unlimited golf? is this true?

First off - when are you coming? Makes a huge difference.

Yes Estrella is unlimited, but depending on when you come that is at most 36 holes...possibly not even that. However, that is not a course I would suggest for a trip.

You likely want to do something like: Both Wekopa, Both Verrado Courses, a Southern Dunes/Whirlwind combo, Vistancia/Sterling, Boulders/Legend. But again, depends when you are coming.

december 2 and 3 are the saturday sunday I can play. Monday tuesday at grayhawk

We are also open to playing 36 on that saturday, I know talking stick has a 36 hole deal. Any thoughts on other places for 36? I would imagine the first tee time would need to be around 8 a.m.

Verrado, Whirlwind, Possibly Boulders, Wekopa, TPC, Wildfire, Wigwam all have 36+ holes too. Others as you know: Troon, TS

Yes...you need to be out by 8.

we ko pa seems to be closed for a college tournament so that is not an option. how are quintero and ak chin? Worth the drive for each? Okay with playing 18 only and playing good courses

Yes...for visitors Quintero is definitely worth the drive. Southern Dunes is one of the best courses around. You can paid SD with one Whirlwind course if you wanted 36 - they are close enough if you get out early. You could pair Vistancia with Q if out early enough

thanks for the feedback, it is much appreciated. The tournament at grayhawk is paid for, so I do not mind spending 200 on a round. paid up for troon last year which was nice but don't really want to pony up 300 plus again

Solid advice here. Observation only, my out of town friends that play southern dunes twice seem to enjoy the day more than my friends who do the southern dunes whirlwind route. Not a knock on whirlwind, they just like SD more and lack of stress trying to work out the replay if things are slow.

Agreed here...especially on the shorter days of winter. SD a 2nd time allows you to play the lines you learned from RD 1.

Just an update ended up booking McDowell mountain on Saturday and we ko pa saguro on Sunday. Playing grayhawk Monday and Tuesday for a tournament. Can anyone share about conditions of these courses currently?

Most folks won't be playing Grayhawk at almost $400 a round. But it should be in very good shape. It will be slow fairways from the rains and overseed, the rough should be reasonably high. Good luck in the tourney.
