Chrome soft vs Z Star

Anyone around a 92SS Driver compare these 2? Which is the better ball Distance and green side control? I've been playing Z Star for quite sometime, but recently done the ballnamic couple times and 98% of the recommendations on there says Chrome soft X?? Not sure I want a "X" type ball. I know I may pick up little distance but I like the control of a softer ball

Chrome Soft X actually spins more than Chrome Soft.

 

If you go onto the MGS 2023 ball test and look at those 3 balls for Mid Driver Speed the CSX is 8 yards longer off the tee and 70rpm less spin with a wedge. So you're not losing any wedge spin and could maybe less 1 less club on your second shot.

What does the Chrome soft X feel like off clubs compared to others?

It will definitely be firmer than the Z-Star but not like a rock, the compression rating is 11 points higher than the Z-Star so shouldn't be much. The regular Chrome soft is 12 points lower so that could feel too soft.

 

End of the day you have to test and decide, grab a few sleeves or a dozen and test on the course. Can't put too much into static specs.

Check out the Diamond. You will get the best of both worlds (distance and greenside spin). If you like a soft ball but lose spin (trouble holding greens) on mid-long irons 8-5pw, you should highly consider the Zstar Diamond.

Really love the Diamond just wish it was in yellow!

Yep, tried both and prefer the Z Star around the green. Using distance measured with a Garmin watch on course there is little difference in distance, the Z Star does have a higher trajectory.
