Please help pitching shanks!

Poor setup, suck arms inside and no wrist hinge.

Hands need to be lower at address and you need a more vertical wrist hinge.

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

The problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.

Looks like you are trying to swing like DeShampoo (setup, grip, grips size).  There is a reason he is the only one.

Yes, yes I am.  Can hit it quite good at times.  Low single digit.  But can get a case of the smother hooks or shanks from time to time.

You also need to make sure to do some reality checks with what you're trying, because....

BrysonChipping.gif.3193037f5849fd77bf2a61690e356a62.gif

Not only is what you're doing nothing like Bryson's motion, I think it's also a hate crime in like 14 different states. 😅

Abandon this, wholesale. Trying to chip like this is basically trick shot territory. Also, not that you need an extra reason to trust @MonteScheinblum, but look at how hilariously close the line he drew probably just ball-parking where you should be is to Bryson:

🫣.  I suppose I get away with it on my full swing because there is enough time to compensate?

i sincerely appreciate the feedback!

Correct, because you have time to do this:

FlatToSteep.gif.e55f00269a15da274ad84aa00ba06033.gif

But that is a reroute compensation that requires compromising a lot:

FlatToSteep2.gif.92d103d5585fd7f04d1f2854e22809c3.gif

Your right side gets flung way out towards the ball as everything in transition looks like it's geared towards rescuing a club that has gotten way too flat and behind you. Also things Bryson doesn't do FWIW, but the amount of room you're creating at address allows you to get away with this. It does cause clubpath issues though and the few block-y looking flights on the screen there fit tendency to have "over the top" style wipe-y misses from a move like this.

Re: chipping-

Notice how your shoulders are parralel to the floor and brysons are tilted.    Try to do some practice shots or swings without the ball trying to get your left shoulder as low to the ground as possible.  It will feel a bit different but I'm pretty sure that will fix what ails you with a little practice.  There will be much more room for error.

Too far from the ball and too upright of a swing

Not trying to cause a fight, but use this as an example…..

To my eyes, this is one of the flattest swings I’ve seen. While it ultimately does matter who is more correct (not between me and another poster, but to the individual trying to improve), that’s relative and based on what you’re trying to accomplish.

I’m attempting to demonstrate that trying to source info collectively for golf is usually fools gold. Find a teacher who has swing principles that you agree with. Follow them. That’s it. Everything else can be so contradictory that you’ll struggle to improve, i.e. which is why golfers on the whole aren’t much better from 20-30 years ago despite massive technological improvements that should be taken advantage of (improved balls, clubs and teaching advancements).

I wish I had someone tell me this when I first started playing a few years ago lol

Trying to swing like 'outliers' usually doesn't work.  Two popular outliers that come up all the time are Moe Norman and Bryson D.  Many have tried to copy them.  Very few succeed.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
