That's a good point, maybe that's the reason LPGA was able to sidestep PGA and sighed the deal.  The deal is good for both parties; the additional cost to ESPN in small but the benefit to LPGA is gigantic.

 

Our expert @Stooch has long advocated LPGA to do a deal like this and it's finally is happening.  Unfortunately, we haven't heard from @Stooch in a while.

It's always a giant step moving from zero to something finite because that something finite can continue to grow.  My hope is that I'll live long enough to see ESPN+'s coverage on every tournament like PGA is now.

I'm all for positive exposure to women's golf, but is charging someone 10.99 a month the right way to gain an audience in an already struggling sub genre?

I think you're confusing the player gala/awards with a different tourney event that the sponsor held. I think there's an event every night during tournament week. Plus this year they brought Carrie Underwood and Nicole Kidman in on Wed. night.

I took my daughter on Saturday and Sunday.  I was surprised how few fans there were.  However, you could tell the ropes were setup to support the small number of fans.  We were basically limited to walking on the cart paths, and there were small grandstands on 1 tee box, 8 green, 17 green, and of course 18 (not sure what was between 10-16).  So the tour handled parking, grandstand setup, course design, and the fanzone area well.

 

With that said, we still had a blast.  She got autographs from Brooke, Gaby, and Danielle.  They all signed her got, gave her a ball, and got a photo.  

I know this is a late to re-enter the party post, but just wanted to comment that’s it’s cool hearing you had a good time with you kid, and that the Tour pros on the LPGA are very very kind with stuff like this. I love that!
