Scotland last week of June 2024.. Advice Please!

Hey Everyone,

 

I will be making the trip to Scotland last week of June 2024. I’ve reached out to multiple courses who say they are completely booked (troon, N Berwick and Muirfield). I fly in on a Saturday and will play prestwick Sunday afternoon. 
 

thoughts and suggestions for Monday through Thursday?

 

I plan on doing old course no matter how long I have to stand in line and am hopeful for carouse as well. Waiting on email back from kingsbarns. 
 

it will just be me as a single so I’m hopeful I’ll have no problem getting on. 
 

suggestions on courses and where to stay would be appreciated.

You will get more response if you post this on the GB&I forum. 
But for mine Western Gailes would be a solid option near Prestwick.

And once at St Andrew’s you can play lots of courses like Crail, Elie, Lundin, and the 5 or 6 apart from the Old Course like the New and the Eden.

I just went to Scotland.

Here is the courses I would recommend if you can get on. I don't know Geography the best, but just where I played.

 

Here is the order from my favorite to least:

 

Muirfield

Castle Stuart

Carnoustie

Kingsbarns

Royal Troon

Trump Turnberry

St. Andrews Old (Could be lower be the feel is unreal, you take 1,16,17,18 out and it's oka)

North Berwick

Royal Troon

Royal Dornoch

Prestwick

St Andrews New

Well prestwick is on the opposite coast from Fife (St. Andrews). You tried Troon, but Turnberry is the gem there.  They should have room as it is the highest priced course in the UK.  About 650 bucks.

 

I agree with Western Gailes as well.  Then make your way to Fife for the lineup at TOC.  You should be able to book Carnoustie online IIRC.  Kingsbarns is about 550 bucks as well and better options around Fife. After you play TOC you will need to come back to play others, but you played the best.

New course Hopefully one of the days that we don’t do old course

Carnoustie (Wasn’t able to get both on as my dad added to the trip late)
