Help me not get scammed

Hello friends,

 

I’m looking to buy my first real set of irons but heard about fake golf clubs and got paranoid. My brother pointed me here so I’d really appreciate the help. Here they are, Titleist T100S prior generation 4-PW with project X 6.0/120g. The guy has a 5 star rating (from 13 reviews) on FB marketplace and appears to have sold quality golf clubs and sneakers in the past. He is asking for $1200 CAD, so about $900 USD.

I saw this thread yesterday and no one replied.  Can you get close up pictures of the clubs instead of a video?

Also is there no other "reputable" place to buy this club where you live?

I got a quote earlier this week from Discount Dans so Titleist seems to be still selling them - their quote was a little higher than the price you state, but can have built to your specs with a different shaft if needed.....

Certainly doesn't seem too good to be true. $900 for last years irons in good shape would be an OK deal.

In the US I would agree but do you have a sense of the Canadian market? I think it’s a good deal (though not a huge steal!) here, since if you order clubs from the US they get hit with import duties at the border so everything gets costly.

There should be no import duties since we are both part of NAFTA.  Are you sure you are not referring to your normal GST and such?

Yeah but there is a new model out, and we're almost in December. By the time anyone is able to use those irons in CA it might be late april/may which if the seller is still holding these by then they'd lose even less. From the photos in the market place everything appears as it should.

You would think! In reality just about everything I order from the US gets hit with it though I have not tried golf clubs. I suspect it is because NAFTA kicks in when a product is made in US/CA/MEX as opposed to being shipped from there but I’m not sure about this. I’ve also heard talk of some NAFTA tag that items have to have to not receive duties which I haven’t seen before but again I’ve only ordered things like clothes.

I live in Surrey, BC myself and if you want clubs that are guaranteed legit at a reasonable price, I suggest you go to your local Golftown or any respectable golf retailer and look at their used club section.

Why don’t you just buy from a large retailer like global golf, 2nd swing, callaway pre owned, offering discounts on used irons right now. 
 

that way you don’t have to worry about authenticity, shipping quality, etc.

They look legit, are brand new, and he offers pick up in person.  If the price is right at least go check them out in person.
