Play the Old Course in reverse

Old Course Reversed
Running over six days, from 28th March to 2nd April 2024, Old Course Reversed will see the historic ‘reverse’ routing in play for three full days, with the other three days playing in the current routing - offering golfers a unique perspective into the history of the Old Course.

Looks like it's gonna be an annual thing, would definitely liked to do it once, no time like the present.  I played it on a whim in late March 2017 as a walk up and had to hit off a mat on the fairways.  Looks like the winter mat requirement next year ends the day before this offer starts 🙂

Request period is DEC 11-12, I assume the demand will be huge.  Roughly $750 USD for the 3 round package; normal routing day 1, reverse routing day 2, The Castle Course day 3, includes "food and drinks"

I will definitely be applying. Playing TOC in the original (reverse) routing has been at the top of my bucket list for a very long time.

I had seen the reverse routing offered by a tour operator in the past. But I thought it was only for one day a year (April 1st?). And mainly for members. Is the public package new?  I will definitely be putting in an application. Maybe my luck will continue. I was fortunate enough to be selected in the October drawing.  It would be another expensive golf travel year, though.😄

p.s. I finally read the provided web page completely. It answered my questions.

Dear Golfer,   Thank you for your recent application for our Old Course Reversed event in 2024.   The package has proven to be extremely popular with a high number of applications for a limited number of times and unfortunately your application has been unsuccessful in the ballot.   We’re sorry you have been unsuccessful on this occasion, however should additional times become available as part of the Old Course Reversed package we will contact previous applicants in order of the ballot results to offer first refusal.   There are also two further opportunities to attempt to secure a tee time to play the Old Course in reverse on Friday 29 March and Monday 01 April via the 48 hour ballot. This will be conducted in the same fashion as the normal Old Course ballot with applications to be made online two days ahead of the requested date of play. For further information on the Old Course Reversed event click here.   We would like to extend our gratitude for your application, and we hope that we have the opportunity to welcome you to the Home of Golf in the future. We will share any future opportunities to play the Old Course in reverse via email and on our social media channels, as well as other ways to experience the Home of Golf. Not a gimmick at all. It’s actually a very huge part of The Old Course history since it’s the routing of the original design, not just a contrived idea.

Well after chatting to my friend who is a member at the New Club; he is entering himself and me(as a guest) each day in the ballot for the reverse golf, fingers crossed I get in one of the days!

Is the member’s lottery before the 48 hour ballot? Or are they one and the same. Either way, good luck to you both.

think we have failed the last 5 times we tried in the summer for normal round.

 

my company owns 2 properties now in St Andrews and get nothing for doing so with golf!

My friend played it on the Saturday; he forgot he said he would take me. Said it was awesome. Know a few other folk who play dead said it was Avery unique experience. 

 

I am taking him to Royal Aberdeen on Wednesday I will be giving him so much abuse for the whole round.
