Sound Slot Putters

Had my first experience trying out a sound slot putter today. Hit some putts with the new Betti BB1-W and I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it. 

 

I know we equate sound to feel but it was interesting “feeling” a solid milled putter with a bit of a higher pitched noise. 

 

How do others feel about sound slots? It’s obviously not all that popular considering the very limited options out there. 

 

Anyone have any favorites or preferences? Do certain sound slot putters sound/feel different than others?

My wife has an old Ping Anser with a sound slot, and I LOVE the sound/feel off the smooth face. I don't have a putter with a sound slot, and I don't necessarily miss the feel of her putter, but it's fun to use it every now and then.

I have a couple Ping Ansers. A 1967 and a 1990's. The 1990's has the regular Ping Anser sound and the 67 sounds almost ceramic. I also owned a SS Newport Beach that had that Ping "tink" sound. I always liked it. My playing partners enjoyed it even more because I never made much with any of them.

Sound slots I've come around on as I've started to like more feedback on a putter when I'm putting. But also deep diving putters depending on design you need to put it in the right spot or it just wont work. Have too thick of a face and cut it in the flange it won't really do anything and just kinda be for looks, don't want to see a slot in the flange but have a thinner face well that putter could sound like a golf ball off concrete. Too long of a cut you have a tuning fork like a Ping 1A just not that crazy. 

 

I had this one briefly and the sound slot didn't do a whole lot cause the face was so thick, luckily I couldn't see it at address: 

 

 

If I was to get a putter with the sound slot I'd have it hidden in the face so I see nothing at address but also get more feedback off of it as well.

I briefly had a Newport Beach, was not a fan of the sound/feel.
