Iron Shaft change question

I think I messed up my irons. Last summer, I bought a set of Wilson forged D9's from my golf partner. His irons were stock specs with Regular UST Recoil Dart 75. I played them at the end of the year and they were fine.

 

I also had a set of Epon502's built for me to my specs by Club Champion with pured 50i Accra shafts that were gathering dust. 

 

I needed to change the midsize grips on the Wilson's out for standard ones and convinced myself that the lighter shafts would also make more sense for me. So I had the Accra's put into the D9's at the same time.

 

I didn't take two things into consideration. First, that the lengths were significantly longer with the Wilson's from 1 1/4" longer with the 7iron to a 1/2" longer with the Gap wedge. 2nd, the lofts of the Wilson's are much stronger as well, 30.5* with the Wilson 7 iron compared to 34* with the Epons and PW loft of 44# for the Wilsons and 47.5* PW loft for the Epons for example.

 

My biggest concern is how are the shorter shafts going to play with stronger lofts.

 

Any thoughts? I'm 62 with a slower swing speed due to some injuries.

The lofts shouldn’t really change anything. Iron shafts are tipped based on the weight of the iron head, not the loft. In other words, a PW shaft is trimmed for a 290 gram iron head, not a 44 degree iron head. 
 

The length issue is confusing- are you telling us the playing length of the 7 iron was 1.25” longer than standard, the 8 iron was 1.00” long, the 9 iron 0.75” long, and the PW 0.50” long?  I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone build a set with progressive lengths like that. Generally, if the 7 iron is 0.50” longer than standard, they’re all 0.50” longer than standard.
