Bag set up thoughts

I currently have a set up of:

 

10deg driver

15 deg 3 wd

21 deg 7wd 

4 iron

 

playing Links golf in Scotland this summer. 
 

I was going to remove my 60 and 56 for a 58 so I have an opening in my bag. 
 

looking for suggestions. 
 

do I change to 5wd and 3iron

 

add 18 driving iron

 

5wd, 3 driving iron. 
 

so many options and decisions. 
 

thoughts and suggestions welcomed

Thats kinf of my thought as well of the 7w being useless.

There is an absolutely enormous amount of ways to go about this, but I'll ask an easy question first: Do you trust your 3w and 7w in most situations off the turf and tee?

Play with the clubs you know.

Otherwise, use these exact clubs.  Accept no substitutes.  They have been proven to work:

3w yes

 

7w debatable but I question it getting so high in the air. 

 

Already planning on swapping the 56 and 60 deg for a 58 so I don't fight the tight lies with the 60

I tend to agree with @Chunkitgood and would politely suggest sticking with clubs you know.  Learning how a new club reacts, and how you then react to it, is no small thing and the number of non-playing professionals that I've seen make a club switch based on playing conditions and have it pay positive dividends is very, very small.  You are working with two variables there and very little time.  The pros have almost unlimited time, especially when compared to us, to practice and know how a new club is going to work.  If you stick with the clubs you already know, then you are only working with one variable, namely the new/different conditions.  

 

Now, if there is a club that you just don't get along with, then by all means start to experiment!  Just don't try to work your way into the BISC (if you know, you know) for 2024, LOL!!!!

That is only 4 clubs honestly if you are going to take a trip all the way to scotland you might as well bring all 14. personally i would recommend a full set of irons plus 3 wedges and a putter in addition to what you listed

I would go 2/3 iron as well and keep flight down on links courses.

I'm also going to Scotland this June and have been constantly debating my bag setup.  If I were you i'd ditch the 7w and 60 like you said, and replace the 7w with either a 2/3 iron or a strong hybrid.  I find it easy to flight a 17 or 15 degree hybrid off the tee more than a FW.  Good luck on your trip!!!!  Once you're there in a pub after the round, these bag setup issues will be meaningless, so don't stress too much!

Well, I think it matters the 7 wood.  
 

My dad has a 7 wood (915d) that he can knock down and produces a low knuckle “thing”.  
 

Links golf is a feel game (not a number game).  
 

Find clubs that don’t produce the “death” miss (even if the safe shot is a touch high, unicorns are hard to find).  
 

Feel is nothing more than confidence. If you like utility irons, hybrids or FW woods, they all CAN be great.
