Pinehurst during The US Open

This year during the US Open will courses other than #2 be open for play or do they shut down all of the courses at the resort? What about at Pebble Peach? Do they shut down the whole resort when a major is going on?

1-5 operate out of the main clubhouse, and those will most likely be closed. Don’t know about the remote courses.

Can’t speak about the open in particular, but there was public play going on at Spanish Bay this week while the AT&T ProAm was going on at Pebble and Spyglass. US Open may be a different story but I’d think they would have the option available to golf at the other courses.

I believe they have told us that 3&5 will be available to play, at least for members. Since those courses are across the road from the Cradle I would guess you’d just check in there.

1&4 will be heavily impacted by US Open infrastructure, with the first holes of both courses closed or modified and the fact that 4 runs along several holes on 2. Makes sense that those are closed. The rest of 6-10 will be open, but not sure how they are handling lodging since I imagine it is booked for the tournament.

As the last post said courses at Pinehurst are impacted but there is still play. Courses #1 and #4 close on 20 May. Cradle closes on 3 June.

Regarding Pebble they did shotgun starts at Spyglass and Spanish Bay during the Open in 2019. Assume playing is expensive - this article/advertisement talks about a pretty high end $40k package (https://www.forbes.com/sites/larryolmsted/2019/02/07/luxury-u-s-open-fantasy-package-at-pebble-beach-golf-resort/?sh=41cf8525b388). Pretty sure Del Monte was normal tee times.

I was there again over the weekend and the place is a sh!tshow. The ongoing renovation inside of the main clubhouse is going to look great but there are areas that are barricaded off to allow for the work. The range also has a net to hit into about 20 feet in front of the hitting mats. The laughable part is that they drive a range picker along a narrow path to collect the range balls. For those of you that try and hit the range picker when at the range, if you can’t hit this one right now, you need to just quit golf altogether and learn how to bowl.
