Cardiac Craig; should I be signing up for better life insurance while he's our closer? We're over-using him right now: the dude's 36 and he can't come in for high-leverage situations 3 out of every 4 days. We were lucky that he struck out Trout after loading the bases against the Halos last week. 

 

That being said, we've got the best farm in the business and will be reinforcing the bullpen before the deadline.

Big difference between 300 yard drives and 300 yard carries. Anyone who carries it 240-250 has the potential to end up at 300 under the right conditions, and that encompasses a lot of golfers.

 

And there's nothing wrong with being proud that your golf watch is showing you 3xx on that long par 5, even if you'll see 260 more often than not. Gatekeepers are the worst.

Don't mean for this to portray this as bragging but when I worked at a course I became friends with and regularly played with guys who were scratch, D1 college golfers and a guy on the Canadian Tour. All of whom obviously spent a lot of time on their games. They all outdrove me easily and I figured they were easily carrying or at least hitting well over 300 based on their yardages left into greens. Even though I wasn't as long, I could still get it over 300 total distance on a good drive but it didn't feel like it when you're playing with dudes getting it out there 330 sometimes. They certainly had a much different ball flight and their ball seemed to just hang in the air forever. These days having since played with a lot of random people it's rare to see someone drive 300+ but at the same time it doesn't feel as long as it used to 10-15 years ago.

Good comment and along the lines of what I was thinking.  If you are playing with other guys who don't keep caps and don't break 100, you aren't seeing 300 regularly. Just like you don't see a lot of guys working out at your local track who can break 4 minutes for a mile. But if you show up at Hayward Field during an Oregon Track Club elite workout, there's probably 10 guys that could break 4 minutes after rolling out of bed at 6am. 

 

Reddit seems to attract the non-thinkers who operate on personal anecdotes.
