Changing a TP Mills Softtail flow neck into a Crank hosel

I have a Mills Softtail with a flow neck that I would like to put a Crank hosel on. I contacted David Mills and he declined making this change. Are there any companies that y'all would recommend for this? Also, How bad of an idea would this change be?

Personally I think it would look ugly as sin but it's your putter so do as you wish.

David built me a Ming with a Crank Hosel last summer and I love it. While I love the softtail, I think my stroke is better off with a crank hosel than a flow neck. I guess it might be cheaper to just have another softtail made than to change the components of the putter. Just spitballing. Thanks for your response

When you say Crank Hosel do you mean a standard plumber neck or that 2 piece style Scotty uses?

If a standard plumber neck can try with someone like Embrace Putters, Flanigan Bilt, NorCal Putters or a few others.

But the price of a neck and refinish might be a few bucks less than a new one from David.

Yeah Im just referring to a plumber neck and you're right about the cost.

IMO Mills makes the PN in the business. If you mod the one you have with another maker’s standard PN, it probably won’t be as nice as a Mills. You’re better off selling the one you have and buying a new PN Mills. You’ll completely devalue the one you have if you have someone mod it. Future you will thank you later if/when you try to sell it. I know…we all plan to keep forever, but rarely do.

I’m lucky enough to have two Softtails, one with a flow neck and another with a plumbers neck. Both beautiful, well balanced and great feeling putters!

Mills has always prided themselves with putting the alignment aid right on the sweet spot. A plumbers neck will likely be heavier than a flow neck, moving the sweet spot ever so slightly. So if there’s any kind of alignment aid on your putter, it might not align exactly after the mod. I’m guessing that’s why David might not love the idea.

Sell it and have him build a new one. You'll save money in the long run and it's just more fun 🙂
