Tried on some ECCO golf shoes

Recommended Posts

I have problem feet, low arch...had 2 surgeries on a foot.  I have Orthotic inserts as well which helps with the low arch issue.  Wanted more comfortable golf-walking shoes - waterproof vs the knit/summer styles.

I have an older pair of spikeless CodeChaos which are my more comfortable pair, followed by Spiked FJ Carbon and spiked Adidas Tour360.

I think the spiked are harder on my feet though.

Tried on ECCO LT1, S3 and C4...they did not have H4 in my size.

I was focusing on overall comfort, minimal sliding around in the shoe/heel cup.  I typically cannot do zero drop (flat footed) shoes.  I also tried on each with my Orthotic inserts.

My rating =

Most comfortable C4

Close second was S3 (a bit too much slop in the heel cup)

Last = LT1, this just seemed like a harsher feel with less drop.

All were very comfy though.

I tried the Boa lacing system on the S3,  I never went for this over traditional laces.  While slick and easy, I don't think I'm ready to crossover.  Seemed like I had more control with traditional laces.

Not a big fan of the built in sock/tongue - but went with the C4 anyway

Bottom line - everyone is unique, try before you buy.

Was able to get the C4 on sale for Presidents day

Great price for the C4's. They're my favorite shoe. Where did you get that deal?

Right on the ECCO site.  Presidents day sale.  Select models / colors / sizes.

I have low arches as well and I just ordered a pair oh H4's last week.  I got them in over the weekend and I've worn them around the house a little.  They're very well made and very comfortable, however, I think they may not be ideal for someone with low arches.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but has anyone tried the H4's that have low arches?  Any issues there?

EDIT:  I'm going to start a different thread for this

Personally, I always need to pull out the supplied insert and use a 'real' arch support insert / Orthotic.

Sometimes this reduces the amount of vertical space available for your foot - but each shoe is a bit different.

I have some over the counter "Powerstep" inserts and a custom insert from my podiatrist that has to get resurfaced at times.

Damn i had high hopes for the new LT1. What was wrong with them ?? Harsh? They touted this thing as soft and bouncy and lightweight!

Thats my problem as well,.. My insert, which i love, can take a way some vertical room due to the higher arch design and its thicker cushion design. Insert too thin and it'll feel too hard, too thick and it takes a way the support. Hate my feet sometimes lol.

LT1 was not bad, just not as soft feeling as S3 and C4 to me - these felt more like slippers on my feet.  ...again - everyones foot is different and your results may vary...not to mention how they might feel after a break in.

I basically put each shoe on and walked around a bit, based on my gut feel - I did not go back to the LT1....I went back and forth on the others to try to narrow down which felt best.
