Qi10 core driver head

drmlum

Recommended Posts

I just got my core driver Qi10 and the head seems light C8 at 45" with Ventus Blue 6s velocore.  TSS 9 gr weight installed and head weighs 195gr.  I tried to remove the back weight and only the screw comes out and I couldn't pry the back weight off to weigh it.  Can anyone else tell me their stock head weight for core model?  Also, I have seen videos where the back weight should be able to be removed, any ideas how I can get mine out?

Thanks

To me that sounds off or do you have on a midsized grip.

I play most of my TM heads around 197-198 grams and with a Ventus Velo Blue 6S they would always come out D3 at 45 with a 50 gram grip +2.5 wraps.

D1.5-D2 is where you should be not C8.  FYI my QI10LS is 196grams which is pretty much TM's norm.

If you are playing the driver at 45" TM suggests going with the #13 weight which is 12.7g vs. the 9g that comes standard. Not sure if that would put you back to D4 but should be closer for sure. A little hotmelt to bring swing weight up and you're good to go

That explains it, your best option is to Hot Melt it through the hosel or put in a heavier front weight.  As of right now the rear weights are not really an option (Although we all know the usual suspects will have them out by mid spring)

The TSS may be the rear weight?  The front/heel weight in mine is 9g.

If you build the driver you will see that the #9g is selected which is what was in mine.

  • 2 weeks later...

I also purchased qi10 core model with Fujikura stiff 50g shaft cut down to 44.75" with standard grip. It felt very light, I checked the swing weight and was C8. I am having the same issues as others, I could not get the screw out or the back head weight off. After applying some heat the screw came out with a good pull with plyers covered in epoxy, still  can not get the weight off?? I'm afraid to apply to much heat for fear of damaging the head. Any thoughts? Thanks for the advise in advance.

It looks like TM have updated the TSS charts for the Qi10 CORE Driver in the custom booklet. When I ordered a custom driver 2 weeks ago, the charts said for -0.5" length to select the TSS#8, 7.5g. This should be approx D4 per the standard specs and a headweight of 200-201g

I received my driver today and it only weighs 195g (estimate D0). When I checked the chart again, it is now updated and says for <-0.25" to select the TSS#13, 12.7g (this was previously the weight that matched >-1.0"). This is no weight heavier than the TSS#13 for those going shorter

I'm pretty disappointed as I did my homework before ordering and am now left with a custom driver that is too light, due to incorrect specs being posted in the custom booklet. The head is now out of stock until 8th April. Id suspect a lot of custom orders have gone out at the wrong SW

I applied heat and the back weight came out with me prying with a small screwdriver inserted in the screw hole.  My back weight weighs 19gr plus 2gr for the screw (21gr total).  The TSS front weight wasn't glued at all and came out easliy.  I swapped out #9 for #13 and all good.

I'm waiting for 3rd party to get heavier back weights.  Ones on Ebay are 21 gr and lighter.  Who would even want a 5 or 7gr back weight?

@drmlum Did adding the #13 wt. into the heel add additional draw bias (or noticeable draw bias) after you changed it? I'm wondering if I order the standard Qi10 if I should just hot melt or put lead tape on the sole. My miss is usually left and I want to avoid adding more draw bias.
