Upright putters on tour

Noticed it multiple times while watching PGA Tour coverage with the closeups of players putting.

Why do a lot of them appear to have putters with a lie angle that is too upright? Is it an alignment thing or just personal preference from address position?

Surely they could get one fitted for them and not several degrees off.

How many guys are too upright and any good examples? I know some guys have heels up a bit or toe up a bit.

If you make the putt and the heal or toe is way up, that still works. Not a one size fits all here

Yah, the guys I watch all seem to have toe up

Matsuyama has a pretty pronounced toe up. There was another pretty popular player that also did. I can't recall off hand. Likely because they are just closer to stock lie and they prefer their hands tighter to their body.

For the most part...the pros are really well fit...and basically every mallet I've seen sits nice and flat

Finau was at one time. Haven’t paid close attention to him lately though.

I definitely noticed it the other day on the Featured Groups feed with Chris Kirk. There were a lot of closeups from behind the ball and he was definitely toe up compared to McIlroy whose putter was dead flat.
