Golftec: Any success stories

I'm trying to find an instructor or place to go for lessons. I'm in the San Jose area and all of a sudden with the golf boom of the last several years, prices for lessons, if you can find someone have gone thru the roof. Golftec seems like it may be reasonably priced, but does anyone on here feel that it worked for them, or was it a waste of time and money? Or if you have a recommendation for someone in the San Jose area please provide information.

Lesson. Singular. Go away, work on what you have been taught for a few thousand balls. Re assess.

I went to golftec a number of years ago and it was the worst lesson experience of my life. I had a terrible instructor and I was not very impressed with the other instructors there.

I suspect that Isaac Weintraub at Seascape could be a good option. Not sure if you want to drive that far though...

There are loads of threads, both on this and other sites, about Golftec. As the saying goes, some people swear by them, some at them.

If you think about it, the equipment and measurement devices can help, but until we get an AI lesson (which I'm sure is coming) it's got to depend on the human being who is doing the instructing. That seems to jibe with the wide variety of opinions you see. Plus, I can take a lesson in relative comfort indoors instead of braving the elements.

I'm having a "swing evaluation" next Tuesday because, at $95, I figure it's inexpensive enough to take a flyer on. I will be a difficult test for my instructor (who is new at the facility) because I'm a senior citizen and pretty awful; I just want to be able to get around a golf course in reasonable fashion. We'll see how it turns out.

I guess what I'm saying is: If you know someone who's gone and knows an instructor and recommends Golftec, then fine. Otherwise, it'll be a gamble and you have to ask yourself if you're willing to lose $95.

It really depends on the Golftec teaching pro you get. One of my buddies who used to work as one of the assistant pros at my father's former CC quit working there and got a job at Golftec. He told me he was more interested in giving lessons rather than doing administrative work and shmoozing around with members so off he went. He's actually a really good swing instructor as I've had a few lessons from him but the other teaching pros at the CC got priority in terms of getting members for lessons because they were older according to him.
