Switched vokey setup and ugh,,,

I switched from a vokey sm9 56m and 60t to a 54s and 58m. It’s not working that great and I cant hit the low spinner m grind with the 58 (like I could with the 56) and not great for flop shots. Also not as accurate with the 54 s grind. Tried to gap it better with the stronger lofted irons.

I think this is interesting. I'm not convinced that gapping is as important as having wedges you can hit shots with. I'm really tempted to go back to a 56 from a 54, because it is better as a sand wedge. Which should arguably more important than hitting an ideal yardage.

Similarly I've always played better golf with a 60 than I have a 58.

I did the exact opposite, going from the 56/60 to Vokey SM9 54/10S, Ping 58/6TS, and a Callaway 58/8Z.

I'm a slow swinger with a high fade so I don't need as much loft. The distances are more useable with the 58s than the 60.

I think you should pick a sand wedge based on your ability to easily get out of bunkers with it.

The 54/10S is my bunker wedge. If I had nice fluffy sand I have other 54s with more bounce.

I have my own idea of what the S in "S grind" stands for, at least for my game. The two times I've tried S-grind wedges they've seemed the most un-Vokey-like Vokeys I've ever tried. From bunkers they are unstable feeling through the sand and from tight turf they seem to play skinnier than the sole looks. Not a fan.

Of courseI didn't. I agree with hitting shots I'm comfortable with is more important than yardages. Definitely thinking the 56M, but never truly was in love with the t grind as it was a one trick pony. Never great for partial shots and bunker shots..really only a flop shot. I have had success with Cleveland RTX Blade 60 low bounce but not sure I want to carry different OEM wedges.

Remain calm, mix n match. Had a 58S few years ago..bought a 588ta 56, original Cleveland..it was better...still got it. Just bought a 58 12K and a ClevelandRTX4 forged 52 10 mid bounce...got a tm mg2 56sb12 nice wedge also.Buying as new saves a bit also. When in doubt usually more bounce works. Have a go too eg 50F Vokey. Lots of Callaways are easy to use...md2 etc. Test and Tune.
