I'm not talking about how he uses the ground, I'm talking about the position in the picture below. To me that falls outside of what most of them do, especially considering he often leaves the ground and is imparting force in the direction his ankle is bending. If he was just twisting onto the heel like many golfers have it wouldn't be much of a concern

It's false that we would have necessarily seen issues by now. Those that work in the sports world see all kinds of crazy stuff where it's amazing the athlete haven't had an injury yet. And I'm not opining because it's different, though there's often a reason more people aren't doing it.  You can assume whatever you want about my background, I was just trying to explain why it could be an issue. I have no attachment to the issue so carry on.

That happens because of hoe he uses the ground. While not to the extend that he does it we see similar movement on baseball swings and again no injuries from it.

So it’s all speculation that nobody can support as an issue and to claim that as an issue has to have something to back it up with.

Maybe if you repeat your mantra enough it will make it true. Post a swing lol lets see how well you understand it.

So 10 years from now, after he has likely won a couple more majors, been a consistent top player and essentially best ball striker in the world, he may injure his peroneal tendons?

this is hilarious it’s like “ oh boy Steph better change his jump shot, he’s going to wear out his pinky finger “

Im pretty sure even if that were true, he would probably accept it instead of significantly changing stuff and risk messing up his swing which again is pretty clearly the best ball striking in the world right now and stupidly consistent.

Where did I say he should change it? I didn't.

In fact I agree with your last part. So hope you had fun with whatever you found so hilarious.

Also, your Steph analogy isn't remotely comparable as Steph isn't using his pinky finger in a way that could put extra stress on it relative to how most players shoot. But you know that. A better example would be if Steph had a habit of landing on one leg while landing on the outside of his foot first.

But it’s not really a given that he is actually at increased risk for a peroneal injury. The body adapts to the stresses it is put through. His lateral ankle ligaments are prob a bit lax due to how much he inverts/probates his foot. Think if he was gonna wear down his peroneal tendons or ATFL he would have done so by now.  It’s probably adapted as well as it ever will be by now.

That's why I was only explaining the mechanism (landing on an everted ankle) by which he could be at increased risk. From briefly watching him there's a range of how much it happens as well. You're right he's probably adapted as he ever will be, due to the SAID principle. That doesn't mean he's immune though, just has a higher tolerance then if say you or I were to go try the same thing. Heck this is true for all athletes regardless of technique, as performance and health aren't always the same thing.
