Hitting Drives Low, Because Of Ball Placement

So recently I've picked up some amazing tips from some awesome guys here on WRX. So my grip, and my takeaway has changed drastically, and I've never hit my irons straighter. I use to play the ball way forward in my stance with ALL of my clubs, to keep it semi straight. Now, with my irons and wedges, I'm playing the ball essentially center stance to hit a nice cut (my natural shape). And if I want to hit a draw, I move it up maybe a ball, and thats it. Seems opposite of whats normal but, its working for me.

 

But with these changes I feel like I seriously screwed up my driver swing. With same grip, and takeaway method, I'm getting that face closed on impact very consistently. My issue is now, playing it just off the left heel, I'm hooking everything. So my initial thought process was, to just move the ball back. I'm practically centered with my driver in order to hit it straight, but now because of that, I cant get the ball more than 12 feet in the air 😔. I feel my current swing changes have brought some consistencies, so what can I do to get my driver up in the air again?

tee ball up higher or maybe more upper body tilt away from target? maybe both?

Playing the ball in the centre of the stance is a bandaid at best. That's why it's not translating to driver - it's less forgiving of quirks. Can you post a swing?

Using a Driver, and positioning the ball in center of stance is not traditional, but if it works, good.  I suspect it will eventually have a derogatory effect.

 

IMO Notwithstanding something else in play, that would negatively impact AoA.  I am not an instructor and typically hit the ball low-mid trajectory.  With a slightly open stance, the ball forward, off my left big toe, 3wd and 2i-5i off left arch, rest center, which allows me to solidly strike the ball.  IF I want a low bullet, I tee the ball low; high trajectory, tee it high.

You might be able to fix by moving the ball back up off of your lead heel and then simply pull your trail foot back to close your stance a bit.

I would consider the possibility that if you need to move the ball back to hit your irons you are not “shifting” (moving laterally towards the target as perceived by an observer standing in front to you) properly.  Both the low point in your swing and the point it travels closest to the target line occur “early” or too far “back” (to your right as you face the target line).

 

There doesn’t seem to be any substitute for using your body properly, or any way to use your hands that gets your body to move properly, at least as far as I can tell.
