WRX Hype Bag

I confess, I spend too much time lurking the Equipment forum. If someone handed you a bag of the most hyped clubs on WRX would you shoot lower scores? Would the hype bag beat your gamer bag?

 

Here’s this week’s hypothetical WRX hype bag: Ping 430 10k with your choice Ventus, Srixon ZX7 MKII irons, and L.A.B. DF3 fitted putter. You choose your FW, hybrids, and wedges.

I tried the 10K and it wasn't for me, lost a lot of distance and ended up with an AI Smoke triple diamond. Obviously the 10K is a good driver but I think my swing is too high spin for it. Personally I think the triple diamond is the forgiving low spin bomber I was looking for. 

I have the Srixon ZX7 Mk1s, I love them and hope to keep them in the bag for a 5 year cycle or so. Don't really have any need to change, they have fantastic feel and forgiveness and are worthy of the hype. 

Last year I had a trip over the pond to California and my sole golf equipment aim was to try find a LAB putter to try out and maybe buy. Fortunately I went to the PGA Superstore and the putting green was the same size as my entire local golfshop here in UK! Anyway tried loads of putters and the DF2.1 was the one for me. The science behind it makes sense and I don't think I can go back to a putter that is not lie angle balanced again. 

 

Other hype clubs I have are a BRNR Mini driver, 100% worth the hype. Long and straight off the tee, easy to hit off the deck. Allows me to have my main driver as a bomber and use this on the tighter holes. 

 

Apex UW, a fairway finding bomber. Strangely I find that I can swing really easy with this and get big distance. Definitely easier to hit than a fairway wood and great in the wind. Again, worth the hype. 

 

I'm not sure there are hype wedges out there right now but I'm fairly sure that I would do well with almost any of the big brand wedges as they all offer so much choice in loft and grind these days. Vokey is the go to but Mizuno have piqued my interest. 

 

Generally I would say that GolfWRX is good at hyping clubs when deserving of the hype. When I see big hype and try the clubs, more often than not I want them in my bag! 

There are other forums where it is obvious that people are paid to hype and push clubs onto the forum and I'm glad it is not like that here.

The hype bag ALWAYS beats the gamer bag. That's why we're always pursuing it.

Fair point on the Classifieds. I’ll admit I’ve bit on some hype clubs that ended up there. Still that possibility of three more fairways or a putter that doesn’t miss is hard to turn down.
