JPX hot metal 5 iron vs HMP vs driving iron

I am wondering if anyone has experience with comparing JPX hot metal vs pro 5 irons vs a driving iron of comparable lofts?   I use a JPX HMP 5 iron which is 22* and I am hot and cold with it.   I am considering HM 5 iron with lighter shaft or comparable DI.  For what is worth my driver ss is 105mph.  Anyone else compare with similar?   I wanted to get feedback to more of this question vs added thoughts of hybrids and 7 woods.   I find at this loft I spin them a lot and therefore wanted to focus on that stated questions.  Thank you in advance.

I have the HMPs and I had theHMs because I had this idea of blending the HMs and HMPs. I sold the HMs because it turned out I didn’t see a difference. 
The HM 5 iron is marginally easier to launch than the HMP 5 iron.  But , I think essentially it’s the same club. 
I have a Ping G Crossover (21 degree) with a graphite shaft that I fly higher and further than the HMP. I guess it’s due to the club design (it looks like a big fat iron that wants to be hybrid) and the shaft is longer. 
So if you don’t like the HMP, I think you’re best served by checking out a hybrid, driving iron, or high lofted wood rather than the HM.

I still have an older 919 HMP 4 iron at home, I did use it of the tee and on punch shots only. Last year I went to a fitting for the upper end of the bag. I was hitting Mizuno 225, Mizuno pro driving iron and Srixon ZXU. All 3 clubs felt soooo much better of the face. The Mizuno pro in completely black did suit my eye not as much as the ZXU, but the results have been nearly similar.  I did not like the HZRDUS shaft in combo with that Mizuno head. The ZXU felt a bit more friendly to my swing.

At this loft, the weight and length of the shaft are pretty big factors.  Truthfully, the heads are all great.  Really hot, good launch and descent for the most part.  If you're having inconsistency issues with the current 5i it might be worth considering your shaft setup.  Finding a long iron shaft that you're comfortable with isn't always that straightforward...

 

Anecdotally, I preferred the new Mizuno Pro Fli-Hi to the 923HMP (4i vs 4i), as the Mizuno utility iron is stupid easy to hit high and far and looks way better to my eye.  I was not blown away by the old one, but the new utility iron is really good.  Like, really, really good.

Thanks for the input, especially the the comparison HMP vs Fli Hi.  I do agree with your comments of the shaft factor.   Not a terrible experiment to try to Fli Hi at 21.5 with the stock steel fiber since I game the i110cw's in my irons.
