Best push cart for the Alphard V2 system

I bought the Alphard at the end of last season. I have about a dozen rounds with it so far.

 

I had a Clicgear 3.5+ and bunch of accessories so I use that with the Alphard. Additionally I purchased the 2 wheel swivel kit for it.

 

The thing I like about the Clicgear setup is that it's a tank and very stable.

 

The thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't fold down as compact as it had before adding the 2 wheel swivel conversion and so it's a bit of a jigsaw to get it to fit in the trunk of my sedan.

 

The 2 wheel swivel kit, on the fence of whether I'd buy it again if I had to do again. It adds to the stablity but not sure it doesn't add much in terms of maneuverability/tight turning radius and it negates the compactness of the Clicgear. I've seen some that use it built-in swivel like the Rovic and Caddytek that have much better maneuverability/turning radius.

 

One thing I would recommend is getting something like this to store the Alphard and battery and wheelie bars and remote and sidekick (before this, I would forget at least one of these things)...

Clicgear has storage (the net and plastic compartment) that the Rovic does not.  The Rovic has the single wheel swivel that the Clicgear does not.  The Alphard Omnicart is similar to the Rovic with the single wheel swivel, and comes with the Alphard brackets already on it, and folds down pretty compact, but doesn't have the storage.  I would avoid the Clicgear swivel kit for all the reasons mentioned in the 2nd post, plus it's not that durable.

 

It comes down to what you value most, storage space, swivel, and/or compact folding?

There is a very active FB group for the Alphard that I would recommend if you are getting one.  Some great people and tips for users.  All that being said, if you don't have a cart already you can go a few different routes.  Alphard has made a cart to match up with the wheels recently so you can get everything from the same company as mentioned above.  I agree with the 2nd post on the CG swivel conversion kit.  I also did the conversion about 4 years ago, and if I had to do it all over again I think i would have kept the single stationary wheel on my CG 3.0. I found that while it does turn in a longer radius easier, the only thing that will turn on a dime is a swivel wheel.  i.e. Rovic.  I only use the remote,  didn't try the tether or the newer follow feature.  Just didn't see a need.  The remote is easy and intuitive. 

 

There are also a few good competitors out there if you don't have the cart already.  MGI navigator, CartTek, are just a few that have good reviews and work well.  I am quite certain that MGI runs a deal at Costco a few times a year and the bundle is a good system.  Hope this helps.

Not to steer the original poster off topic (pun intended), but refurbishedgolfcaddies.com (run by MGI), has refurbished ("Good" condition) Zip Navigators on sale right now for about the same price as the Alphard.

 

I recently ordered one and have yet to receive it so I can't speak on my personal experience, but most people have had great things to say about the refurbished carts they've received.

 

Just another option...

I have an Alphard w/Clicgear 4. I had a cart to start with.  But If I did not have a cart I would certainly consider a refurbished unit.  I know nothing about the site.  But the prices would make be consider them.

No, only big enough for the wheels (V2) and extras, like wheelie bars.

Get the Rovic with the single swivel wheel.

 

Get the bag that comes with the Alphard. This is for your wheels and battery, and the additional wheelie bars.

 

And purchase a bag from Clicgear.  This is for your buggy (trolley) plus I can fit extra shoes and wet weather gear easily.

 

Very happy with my Alphard V2. It’s a pain to put it together and dismantle but that’s a very minor quibble.

I thought the assembly/disassembly of the Alphard/Clicgear was a minor quibble at first too.  I got sick of it and switched to a Motocaddy.  Alphard was a little easier to control with the remote, but the Motocaddy can be used in manual mode as a power-assisted push cart.  Motocaddy wins hands-down in ease of setup and folding.

I’ve had my V2 since August of 2020 and use a Rovic RV1C with it.  I’ve seen people with the ClicGear double front wheel retrofit and it doesnt maneuver anywhere as well as mine.  Whatever you do, make sure you buy something with a swivel front wheel, all other considerations are secondary.

Right now you can add an omni cart to the V2 for $100 which is only $10 more than the clicgear wheel kit. I’m thinking of that bundle and I can sell my CG 4.0. I’m just not sure of the quality of the Omni cart. CG is the Cadillac of push carts.

$100 is low risk for a push cart….
