Paradym TD vs AI smoke TD

Hey all, cracked the face on my OG Paradym TD and they’re sending me the smoke TD.

 

anyone have experience/played both? If so, any differences? Launch, spin, speed, more or less fade biased, certain parts of the read better or worse?

edit: are the weights for the OG compatible with the smoke? I have a bunch of weights for the OG and would like to play around with the Smoke weighting.

OG is neutral while AI Smoke TD significantly fade biased.  Not sure if it's the COG location difference but my AI TD sits just a touch more open than my OG.  I can now hit a 2-5 yard cut off the tee with ease as result which is huge advantage for me considering that I normally play a draw.  Another big difference is that the AI retains spin off the toe so that the left knuckler is now a hard overdraw that stays in the air and is much more playable.  Anything off the sweet spot is virtually identical for both as expected.  A touch lower launch perhaps with the AI.

I would agree the AI TD is fade biased, which I love. And it is quite forgiving for what it is. Left side is pretty much out of play for me unless I just make a terrible swing.

This for sure...I read the Callaway Johnny Wunder piece on setting these drivers up and it has worked wunders...see what I did there.😁  I played the para triple last season and like the AI TD even more.

I would concur with the triple D smoke being more forgiving. Don't expect alot of difference with solid strikes, but you should notice a difference with off center strikes. I like the look of the smoke better as well. As for the weights, they're all interchangeable. But, of course Cally had to make these weights blue so there is that. A simple trip to Fleabay,will fix you right up if you need the blue weights. My ocd demanded I purchase the additional blue weights to match 😂

I played the OG Paradym ♦♦♦ last year and the Ai Smoke ♦♦♦ is a much better evolution. Gone are the low spin knucklers on toe strikes. If anything, a bit high toe is a cheat code. I've hit the longest drives of my life over the past 2 months with this driver, and my handicap has dropped over 3 strokes.

 

As others have said, the OG weights are compatible, but don't look great with the new color scheme. I bought a 9g weight off Amazon for $8 so I could put a slightly heavier one up front while retaining the 14g one in the back.

Would you say that if you aren’t the best ball striker but your strikes are consistent on driver (center to high toe) that the TD could still be playable?

AI Smoke TD was made for toe strikes in general.  I've hit many off the toe where I died a little inside expecting a ground out to 3rd base to look up to see the ball curve left and land in left field so to speak.

thanks. Gonna likely have to wait it out until they get on CPO, likely get a 8* or 9* and loft up to remove the fade bias.

Absolutely. The OG Paradym ♦♦♦ wasn't playable for me because those high toe strikes would turn into 1500 RPM lefts that fell out of the sky. Now if I hit it left, it's entirely because of face angle to path and starting line related. I do have mine cranked up 1°, but I wouldn't say the face looks closed at all. Looks very square to me and with the deeper face, I see more of the loft, which is confidence inspiring. 

 

My home course that I've belonged to for 5 years has a driveable par 4 (300-315 depending on hole location). Over the last 5 years, I can think of roughly 3 times when I've been pin high and about the same number that I've been in the front greenside bunker, which is about 290-295. This with pretty much all the latest and greatest drivers: TM SIM, PING G425, Cobra LTDx, Titleist TSR2 and TSR4, OG Paradym ♦♦♦, etc. I've owned this Ai Smoke ♦♦♦ driver for 2 months. On that hole, I have been over the back of the green 8 times. Turns out it's a simple pitch from behind the green to get up and down for birdie. I've even hit it too far and ended up in a hazard 30 yards behind the green once. And this is just an example on one hole. I play with the same foursome, and they all can't believe how much this driver has made a difference to me. 

 

I have found the holy grail, and someone will have to pry this driver out of my cold dead hands.
