staying cool (core temp)

I am a person that as i am getting older am starting to get heat rashes when out on the course playing tournaments due to mid day starting times. What are some tricks and tips you guys do to keep your body temps cool. I always wear breathable shirts and what nots but its getting worse.

If you're getting heat rashes this is something you should seek out help and advice from a dermatologist. 

 

But hydrate the day before, your clothing may be an issue despite you saying it's breathable, obviously light colours to have less heat absorb by the clothing.

For heat, this is what I do.  I’m fine playing in 100-118* heat. 
 

1. Wide brim hat. Baseball caps don’t do anything.  
2. Wet chamois around the neck.  I don’t take it off. Keep it on the whole round and re-wet it when possible.  Chilly pad, etc. any brand will do. 
3.  Arm sleeves.  Sparms, etc.  any brand will do. 
4.  Good sunscreen.  1 hr. before exposure.  Putting on sunscreen right before you play isn’t as effective as putting it on 1-2 hours before you play.  
5.  Hydration.  Hydroflask. etc.  

6.   Light polyester shirts and shorts.  No cotton for me at all. 
7. Pace yourself.  It’s not a race. It’s survival.

The only change I make to this list is instead of arm sleeves, I wear a white UPF50+ lightweight compression long sleeve shirt under my light PM golf shirts.  Once that thing gets wet (I sweat a LOT) and a breeze hits me it feels like I'm standing in a refrigerator.  It's wonderful, and the sleeves help control the sweat from running to my hands.

This really only applies if you use chemical sunscreen. Mineral sunscreen will work right away.

Use an umbrella when possible.  Minimizing radiant heating really helps.

Hydrate like crazy the day before. Like drink 1 gallon of water through the day.
