Mizuno equivalent to Bridgestone J40

I have been playing my Mizuno 225's and honestly they aren't that soft. 

 

I have been practicing with a single Bridgestone J40 CB with rifle shaft and it is my favorite, very soft off the face.

 

I am searching for a full J40 CB set to buy with the proper shafts.

 

Just a couple of items for us nerds: (MPF ratings)

Mizuno 223 - 532

Mizuno 225 - 472

 

Bridgestone J40 - 455

 

 

 

However I wanted to know if there are any other Mizuno's that are equivalent that I could try? the J40s came out in 2011/2012 so not looking for a new stuff

 

Mizuno MP-53?

I don't know if you are going to find anything Mizuno-wise that feels exactly the same as the Bridgestones...

 

Additionally, you will find some different opinions concerning which era of Mizuno irons are "the best" (or softest, etc.)

 

But, for my money, the "cut-muscle" era was when Mizuno produced their best and most consistent irons, year after year. 

 

Depending on which model of the J40's you have, I'd think that MP 32, 60, 62, 52, or 57s would be worth a look.

Well as someone who has both, 🙂 , I really do not think they are the same. The MP 225 are not forged like the JP40s. I would say the older MP32s would feel similar. I do think the Srixion ZX7's were close to the JP40s as well. FWIW, I like the MP 225s much more than the JP40s. The JP40s are stupid nice, but the MP 225s are just fun to play.

66 was one of their best IMO...

I tend to think bridgestone and srixon are more comparable. The zx7 would be close to me. Also the cobra tours feel similar.

I have not played J40 CB but have the J40 DPC, J33 CB and use to have the J15 MB. As others have said the Srixon ZX7 will have a similar feel to the Bridgestone J40 CB irons. Both are endo forged. Another option are Wilson CB irons. Anything from V6 to current 24 CB will have that soft dense feel.

I literally just found set of mint MP53 irons......awesome feel especially in comparison to the i230s I used for past year ..... pocket cavity in longer irons provide some levels of forgiveness and I'm shallow through the ball that the lower bounce is irrelevant.  If you research these , they have a 3D sole design adding to turf interaction.  HIGHLY recommend 👌

In had 223s and now have the 243s.  Needed a softer shaft and definitely feel better than the 223s.

 

That said, Mizuno cavities do not feels as soft as the MP33s or the MP5s.

 

If you want really soft feeling, the Srixon 785s were the softest I've played.

 

I also need to add, the 223s and 243s have sort of a thunk solid feel more similar to Miuras that I really like more now.
