Callaway FT Irons

An evolution of the original Fusion Irons, the 2008 FT Irons are a product of Callaway Golf’s innovative weight-shifting science — Fusion Technology.

Delivering the utmost in performance and playability, these irons feature a new head shape designed to appeal to mid to low handicap players. Multi-material construction allows for premium performance. The Tunite cradle has been optimized with the addition of Extreme Notch Weighting. An astounding 80 percent of the clubhead’s weight is in the extreme perimeter for a higher MOI (moment of inertia) and enhanced stability and forgiveness. The lightweight hot titanium face produces fast ball speeds and the TPU SenSert decreases vibration, creating an incredibly solid feel.

Features:

  • New head shape is designed to appeal to accomplished players with a thinner topline, higher toe and slightly less offset
  • Tunit cradle allows for 80 percent of the clubhead’s total weight to be placed in the extreme perimeter, creating a higher MOI
  • Hot titanium face produces fast ball speeds and allows for an increased effective hitting area
  • TPU SenSert decreases vibration for an incredibly solid feel
  • Modified Tru-Bore enhances feel and performance

Took a few rounds to adjust, but just love'em now. Long, forgiving, good feel, feedback is good. Getting fairly skilled at knowckdowns with them and the like. Finding the NS100 shaft to be pretty sweet as well. Still have my X-Tours and Hogan FTX as backups, but for now sticking with these :)

Just got my set of FT irons in and they came through with the Nippon 1100 uniflex shafts. I have two range sessions under my belt with them and they feel awesome. They do fly a tad high but I hit everything high. Can't wait to hit them out of rough on the course which will be the real test. I'll report back when I have more data. One thing I can say is that they feel and fly a lot better than my AP2s which only lasted two weeks.

I did a fitting at Callaway about a month ago. I got fitted into FT Irons with a TTDG X100. I have been playing for about 2 weeks now with these irons and love them more and more. It is a very solid club and I hit them very accurate and long. I was a little nervous about going to these irons but now that I have them I know I made the correct decision.

I was fitted by a Callaway representative about a three weeks ago for my entire bag. I chose the FT Irons with graphite shafts due to the small top line, work ability, and simple game improvement technology. I have practiced with these irons, since I received them and love them. It is a very solid club and I hit them very accurate and longer than my previous irons. However, the distance increase is related to the stronger loft and graphite shafts. I was a little nervous about spending thousands of dollars on a new bag setup, but I am glad that I did. Callaway Golf makes the best golf equipment.

The price is high.....the performance is worth 2 grand a set. Best irons for the mid handicapper.

Who needs blades (unless you are young and scratch)? The FT irons are so fine. I wonder if they were for sale at $700.00 the set how many zillions Callaway would have sold. Scared a bunch off at $1200.00 already in the first two years. Glad I was not scared away.

Sweet and fabulous irons. AAA+++ all the way!

I switched to the FTs about a month after their release. Played them for about year and half or so, have to look up when actaully purchased.

Got mine NIB for under $800...best thing ever did. I have Hogan's, Cally X Tours, and after some adapting to FTs, they are very playable,s etup relatively clean for their GI characteristics, yet still remain pretty darn workable.

I take the HOgan's out a few times a year, played X Tours last week, then asked m,yself, why? FTs don[t have that forged feel, but soft enough and can tell where hit ball on face at impact...cannot ask for much more.

So late fall or maybe by Xmas, next gen should be starting to appear...if they improve on these, I'm in, as performance is way above price

Wow love the FT irons! I previously played the Fusions and really liked them. The FTs are slightly smaller with a cleaner appearance. Distance and the feel at impact are the same as the Fusions, but the FTs are more stable throughout the swing. If you already have the Fusions, no need to upgrade. I did because I was moving on to a stronger flex. Of the Callaway irons I've owned (X14, X18, Bertha 02 and 07, X20, Fusions) the FTs are superior. Perfect for the player that has a repeatable swing, but only plays once or twice per week.
