Can't hit the push draw...

so my balls always end up right of the target
First off, I'm a lefty. My ballflight consistently starts at the target and then draws 5-10 yards right of the target. Do any of you play to a consistent shot pattern? For instance, should I simply set up 5-10 yards left of my intended target? And btw, when I do try to hit a push draw, I tend to make poor contact. Any tips based on this situation/problem?

I suspect you are addressing the ball with the face shut (a bit closed).

Take your 6 iron , don't address the ball, just use one hand to rest it flat on the ground aimed square at the target. That's the proper face angle at address, and it would look "open" to most people who are in the habit of addressing the ball with the face shut .

definitely not the case. i think itd be more likely that id come into impact with a slightly closed face. sometimes my grip gets a bit strong. could that be the problem?

Well, at least 99% of the golfers I see address the ball with a closed (shut) face.

Show them a square face and it looks way open to their eyes.

It doesn't take much to get it shut, just a hair off, just a little tiny manipulation at address, and it's shut and that changes the golf shot quite a bit.

This is something Tour pros constantly practice.

my question is why you want to hit a push draw. If your ball starts on line consistently then draws why would you change. Much easier to aim where you want to START it and let it turn towards the flag then guessing how much you will push it and if it will come back to the target or turn too much. I'd rather start the ball on line and believe its a much easier way to play except I play a fade.
