Garmin GolfLogix GPS Unit, Any Feedback?

Nothing on the search Function

I have a Bushnell and I love it, but just saw part of an informercial for the Garmin and looked kind of interesting. Search function turned up nothing. Seems like a direct competitor to the Skycaddie.

Anyone have any feedback?

I have the first gen unit, liked it simple to use and download courses haven't had any problems with. I even purchased the 2nd gen unit for pretty much half the price when it came out. I haven't had a chance to use it with the new features yet as the weather been to lousy to play.

I bought the first generation Golflogix a couple of months ago from Amazon for $184. Easy to use, accurate, and the price was right. It gives you distances to hazards, FW bunkers, doglegs, plus the normal middle, front, & back green distances. The new one will show you how far you hit your last shot, but that feature wasn't worth the extra money to me.

I like GPS because I get required info quick. I don't need pinpoint accuracy....I just need to know if i need an extra club or not.

Easy to use, I haven't had one issue.

I'll tag on that the 2nd gen model is pretty slick. I just played my first round with it yesterday and had no issues. It was a breeze to download my favorite courses and almost zero brain bytes wasted on the course. The last shot function was neat, but I quickly tired of my playing partners asking me to see how far they hit it. Small price to pay. I highly recommend it as long as you don't care about exact distances to the pin with your wedges. If that's the case you should probably look to the laser rangefinders. My 2 cents.

Is this gps unit not highly accurate to the pin? I read a review on golfsmith.com stating that it was 10 - 20 yards off. Is this the case? Thanks!

for me that is not the case, in the 2 rounds I played with it since I got the 2nd gen unit it has been either right on the money or within a yard of the markers on the course/tee box. This was on 2 different courses. The 2nd gen unit seems to be more sensitive than the 1st gen unit which I had previously.

This may be a dumb question but I am just now starting to look at GPS systems. The markings show front, back and middle of the green. What happens if I hit a bad shot and end up pin high but off to the side of a green by lets say 80 yards or so. Does the GPS draw a straight line from me to the green or do I have to somehow make some adjustment? Not sure if that makes sense to you. Thanks :clapping:

That depends on the unit. Some only give you "fixed" points. Others, such as the SkyGolf products and the Golf Guru, give you the outline of the green (actual shape) and distances to your position relative to the green. I do think there may be others that also give you distances from your position through the center of the green along your line of play but without a visual or with a "generic" visual, not the actual shape of the green, but I am not sure which they are. That feature is what originally sold me on the SkyGolf SG2 and why I replaced it with the Golf Guru. I find being able to approximate the pin location and get my front and back yardages on that line of play invaluable.

I think you'll find this has been answered a bunch of times but GPS always shows the distance "as the crow flies" from where the unit is to where the defined points (F/C/B) on the green are. The greens features of some GPS units either use additional mapped data points ( or possibly manipulate the F/C/B data) to give you additional distances other than straight line distances to the fixed F/C/B points on the green.
