What's the best shaft for a Callaway Fusion FT-3?

Fellow golfers,

I currently own a Callaway ERC Fusion with an Aldila 65 NV Stiff shaft in it. It is the best club I've ever owned and I think the head and shaft are a great combination.

But.... You know the way it go's, you are always on the lookout for something better!

I am in the market for the new Callaway Fusion FT-3 Tour 9,5 degrees but I don't like the stock shaft, too whippy. I'm thinking of ordering one with an Aldila 65 NV Stiff shaft again. What is your experience with this driver? Do you think this is a good combination? Do you have other suggestions for a lightweight shaft with a stiff tip?

I use a Fit-on 11 Pro 95 in mine and love it. Not very lightweight, but does not play as stiff or heavy as it seems it would. Good Luck!

I've got a 652 Speeder in mine and it hits nice high flat bombs. The shaft is fairly high launch but there is no ballooning at all. It is very stable and the dispersion is quite tight. The 652 is available direct from Callaway so there are no warranty issues either.

If I where you I would stick with what works and go for the Aldila NV 65-S. You could try the UST V2 65, Graphite Design YS6+, Fujikura Speeder 652 or Fujikura Vista Pro 70 but if the NV is working good for you I don't see a need to change.

I own two FT-3's. Both are 9.5* Tour neutrals. One has the NVS 65 stiff, and one has the Speeder 652 X. I am still just now getting some time with the 652, but I seem to like it. The NVS is a great shaft in that head, but when I wanted to go after it, it was a touch soft. So I went to an X in the 652. I like the high launching shafts in this head, as it is supposed to be really low spin. I also like to play the power fade as my goto shot, and the X helps cut the ball better. I suggest getting a shaft that gets the ball up, but get a flex that handles your swing well.

I like the Grafalloy Pro Launch or Grafalloy Nanotech in the FT-3 and the 454. My swing speed is 105 MPH, and the stiff in both of those shafts works out awesome. I can get it out there pretty close and sometimes farther than my friends who have much higher swing speeds, because these set-ups seem to be ideal for me....now, if they had ideal set-ups rather than a 975J with a Proforce 75 and a Warbird with a Callaway firm shaft....would be a different story!!

It's all about the ideal set-up for you....

Driver : FT-3 9.5 Tour Issue with Neutral and Forward weighting.

7FTB : Liked it but anyone who has seen my hit this thing marvels at my ballflight.. which was very high knuckleballs...very strange to watch in the air.

Rombax : just installed one again.... loving this shaft in every other head I put it in. Club in Mr Kwok's garage.. how is it Joe ? :)

I have an Aldila VS Proto 65-X and I love it. Hits high flat bombs and has little spin off the face. Couldn't ask for anything more in a driver.

Is this the teal shaft that Vijay is experimenting with? If so, what is the torque and kick-point? How does it compare to NV and NVS? Your comments would be greatly appreciated !
