ProForce V2 Shaft

Hi Guys,

 

Question - I am playing a Cleveland HiBore XL with a Grafalloy Blue R shaft. Love my driver, but I have the feeling that my shaft is too "boardy" if that makes sense. I feel that I am losing distance as well. My SS is between 100 - 110 and I usually drive the ball around 270 / 280 with the occasional 300yd drive. I load the shaft well, but I also like getting feedback (like the flex from loading up). Don't get that feeling with the Blue...

 

With my current setup my drives go about 260 or so but almost always in the fairway. I must admit the shot dispersion is very tight, hardly ever straying. I am also hitting it very high (9.5* loft). My question to you is I am interested in the ProForce V2 shaft - read some great comments on it from GolfWRX. Tried one on the range - really enjoyed hitting a V2 in a Reg flex 63 gram weight.

 

Have heard/read that the V2s play stiffer than advertised (like the Grafalloy Blue). Should I go with a Reg in 63 Grams or go for a Stiff in the 57 grams? Any difference in your opinions?

if thats your actual swing speed and you load the shaft well you shouldnt be using a reg. flex shaft. the v2 will launch even higher. go to at least a stiff flex, that will bring the ball down and give you some feel back

If you have a 100-110 swing speed, hit it regularly 270+ and almost always in the fairway, WHY THE HECK ARE YOU TRYING TO CHANGE ANYTHING!

I feel you...I have a Graf Blue in my driver that I tried on a friend's recommendation and I hate it. I had to add some lead tape to it for it to even begin to feel right. It's been the worst shaft I've tried to date, but a lot of people like it.

I put a v2 Stiff in my 3 wood and don't have any problem with it even though I would normally get an X. I'll also put a V2 Stiff in my driver and don't foresee any problems. The tip is lively enough to feel the kick, but it's still stiff enough to keep the ball flight down.

Not to be funny my friend but surely those are estimates, theres no way you can be swinging it 100-110 and be using a regular flex and complaining it feels boardy!

 

You should be in atleast a stiff flex IF your swing speed is infact 100-110. The V2 actually plays a little weak to flex most of the time dependant on how you load the shaft meaning Stiff flex guys can play an X with out much trouble. But to be fair the V2s are some of the straightest shafts in the world, very tight dispersion, but if you say your hitting it high with a 9.5* then it may spin a little too much for you.

 

Grafalloy blue will play quite a bit different from the V2, but to be honest if your not after the "boardy" feeling, then going to the V2 isnt going to help much, the low tourque of both those shafts makes them feel a little stout.

 

I would say maybe look at softer feeling shafts, maybe a VS proto, Diamana Blueboard...

I have a Prolaunch V2 in a Titleist 905s, stiff flex.

 

My swing speed is between 100 and 105mph per a launch monitor fitting and I find the V2 stiff a little boardy for me. When I put a good swing on it it is fine, but if I am off a little it is a tad too stiff I think.

 

Just my experience, everyone is different. You may want to search out a club fitted with a V2 to give it a try.

Rover, I had the same specs and the V2 felt terrible to me also. Honestly, the worst shaft I've ever felt.

If you're contemplating going to a regular, have you thought about trying the 75 gram UST V2? I had the 75 in a stiff flex, which when measured by a clubfitter, had a frequency of 6.7....which was too stiff for my swing.

 

Might want to check out the 75 in a regular...

If your swing speed is a "confirmed" 100-110mph then I don't know how you are in a Regular flex shaft. If you did spend some time on a LM then the tech should have let you know you are at least a Stiff and an Xtra Stiff in a lot of shafts. I'm not saying you aren't swinging at those speeds but something doesn't add up with your numbers so I am inclined to recommend that you need to spend some time on a LM and confirm your numbers then we could help with shaft selection.
