Here's a cool place to hopefully find out what the latest trend is in ball choices of top members and great golfers! Get at it!





My Choice is the Pro V1X. It flies through the wind for me with great spin and distance.

my ball of choice currently the nxt tour. compromise of quality and inexpensive. i don't feel like i give up that much by not spending the extra $20 for the pro v1 or nike one. if i get froggy or a good deal i like the pro v1 and nike one platinum. also, and don't laugh, when i can find them i like the top flite strata tour soft and precept u-tri tour.

Right now, it's the Top Flite TL-Tour. Pretty nice ball, and no stone at all.

Yea, i agree. top flite has really improved from their previous balls that i don't even want to hit. the 2005 models were very nice.

My ball of choice is the Bridgestone B330S. I got sleeve of e6 balls that I will try this spring.

 

Also like the Callaway HX-56 but the Bridgestone offers the same performance for me at a cheaper price.

i tested HX TOUR 56 in late season of 2005...

 

was very pleased with the result.,,

 

so HX TOUR 56 would be my NO.1 ball for this year's season...

 

and i also use Prov1s

 

i found HX TOUR 56 flies further and slightly higher than prov1...

 

and also, i kinda was able to control the trajectory and spin with the wedges... better so than provs...

 

only thing im worried about 56 is its not as durable as provs...

 

but im not saying 56 gets scuffed off easily like the CTU 30.

Cheers to u Daniel46, too. I agree, when im not playing the expensive, over spin Pro v1x ive got a b330s on the tee. Very nice feel and performance.

2004 ProV1's. I don't really go for distance nor do I hit it very long(I know. What a junior who doesn't want distance and only hits it 260 yards?) I just love the spin and feel. 'Nuff said.

Untill yesterday, it was the ProV1x. However, I was looking for a bit more spin, so I put the standard Prov1 in the bag yesterday.

 

It worked great. Slightly more spin on the wedges, a bit softer feel and no loss in distance for me.

ProV1, they are soft enough on the greens and for driving to get the most out of them. I play them mostly because i have more new sleeves of them than any others. my dad gets v1x's but he's not one to share...

As of late, it's been a tossup between the Pro-V1x and the One Platnium. I'm starting to go back to the Pro-V1x because I get them for free a couple times a year. But, when I'm not using those two, I'm teeing up NXT Tours, which is a really good value ball.

Srixon Z-UR. Decent ball. Play it primarily because I'm an assistant pro and get them free from my employer. I played the U-RX for two years in '03 and '04.

My favorites are the Pro V1's but since I can't afford 50 bucks for golfballs all the time I will usually play good old noodles.

Only downside is the ball is not very soft...

 

Upside is that I have long looked for a ball that gives me the distance of the Prov1X off the driver without sacrificing distance with the irons. The Z-UR does that. I have found no other ball that offers both.

Until a few months ago my ball was the Bridgestone B330, but found that they scuffed just too darn easily. I tried the Nike One Black a month or so ago, and really liked it...didn't scuff as easily. If I was getting balls for free though, it would be the B-stone.

I like the Maxfli line. The new Red Max is a pretty good ball and a pretty good price. If I'm playing a better course, I'll use the Black Max. If I'm just knocking it around the local muni, I use the Noodle.

I bought a new Fusion driver about a month ago and I wanted to try the HXtour 56. What a combo. It is my ball of choice now. Very long with good spin.

well im kinda in the middle of a ball dibocle. ok right now the ball of choice is the HX Tour-56. GREAT spin. and really good distance. 1000000X inprovement ofver the original hx tour. :birthday:

 

but yesterday i pulled a random ball out of my bag and it just so happened to be an old Maxfli M3 tour,and i was hammerin' it and my YES! putter really liked it. i was sinking crucial putt after crucial putt.so i might be back to some Black Max's again.

 

..................but not too long ago i was playing in a tournament and was doing F**king ooogly and pulled out a found ONE Platinum. and it was AWESOME! Evry aspect was perfect.

 

 

so the next balls i buy are gonna be up in the air

I now use Bridgestone Tour B330. It's a good all around ball. However, it is not as good around the greens as the Maxfli Black Max. The problem I had with the Blakc Max was off the tee...I had trouble keeping them straight.

 

Titleist NXT is the best bargin ball out there. Good distance and fair control around the greens.

Srixon HRX-333 - good wind ball....like the clicky sound.....never gets confused by the choppers on the next fairway

I most recently tried the Precept PWR-Drive, which a local golf shop had on sale for $12/doz. I liked the feel, distance, and that they stopped well. I don't tend to spin the ball much, and was impressed with getting these to stop on shots that normally would have run off the green for me.

 

My usual ball is Maxfli Noodle (Wal-Mart used to carry Maxfli Practice dozens which were 75% Noodle for $6/doz), but I like the Precept more. I've also tried Dunlop Loco (only $14 a dozen regular price), but I wasn't impressed with the quality of the construction. Some seemed scuffed right out of the sleeve. I've always liked Titleist, but the NXT is never on sale. Tour level balls are just too pricey for me, and I don't believe I have the swing speed to really get much performance boost from them.

At the home course it is usually the ProV1x or NXT Tour. If am playing at a goat ranch or lesser course, then Nike Distance. No since for me to play a high dollar ball there that will spin for me around the greens since most of those greens at these other courses won't hold a ball. We are in a severe drought here in Arkansas as is most of the South Central US. Playing a lot of texas wedge shots and running the ball up to the green.

 

These other courses need rain in a big way down here. Luckily we have a decent irrigation system at my home course and all new greens.

Gotta admit M3 and M3 LT's by Maxfli were their best followed very closely by the Revolutions (originals).

 

But I play the ProV now.

Like the rest of you, I have tried everything out there including some that arent. I used the V1X until the beginning of last year, them switched to the Black max. I absolutely love the ball. IT has the perfect combination of feel and distance for me. For the Price and performance, It cant be beat. I love BLACK MAX, I love BALCK MAX. G

I'm still trying to find "The" golf ball. I usually do well with 3 piece low spin golf balls.

 

Favorites so far are:

NXT Tour

HX Hot (especially in bad weather/slow greens)

U-Tri Tour

 

Others I'll play on occasion:

Noodle

Pinnacle Exception

NXT

HX Red (a little too soft for me as they scuff easily)

 

I've tried ProV1's, but haven't had success with them. :birthday:

 

This year I'll be trying out some Bridgestone products. Already have some e6's and B330's waiting to go. I also have a sleeve of ProV1x's I'll be trying.
