Going to Kauai in August

For our 10 year anniversary we are returning to the site of our nupitals. We got married at the Hyatt at Poipu Bay, it was my brainchild while trying to simultaneously watch the Grand Slam and listening to wedding ideas.

Back then I played the Kauai Challenge with consisted of the Prince, Poipu Bay and Kauai Lagoons courses. It looks like it's gone up about 90 bucks since then. Kauai Lagoons was my favorite of the three I recall.

This time we are staying at the Hilton near the airport and Kauai Lagoons. I've heard that Kauai Lagoons has 9 holes under reconstruction and I wondered if any WXR's have played it recently and could comment. How about recent experiences with Poipu Bay and the Prince?

Are there other courses that I should consider? I'm a 5 that likes a traditional layout.

played the Prince twice in the first week of June before we took off for Maui...

It was in great shape then...sounds like a fun anniversary trip. enjoy...

Going in august for my homeymoon staying at the grand hyatt next to poipu bay. Probably going to play there and the prince course.

IMHO, they butchered the Kiele Course at Kauai Lagoons. I would play the Prince and Poipu Bay and skip the Lagoons.

if you only have time to play one, play Princeville. I just got back from there last week. Its in great shape. Poi'pu is in okay shape. You can also try the Makai course as well. not as scenic as Prince but just as much fun.

enjoy it. I've been back only a week and I miss Kauai already.

Yeah I will probably play poipu at least once because it is only like 120 with my hyatt discount.

I just finished playing Princeville a few hours ago. INCREDIBLE! I played the championship tees and shot an 82. 37 on the front and 45 on the back. The scariest course I've ever played. My driving was at its best but the back 9 is still freakin' hard. I hit about 3 fat middle irons that cost me, but otherwise I played as well as I could hope.

If you can only play one course play Princeville. it's $120 after 12 o'clock and it is worth every penny. They really give you the star treatment the minute you show up. I went to Poipu yesterday just to look around and while it looks great Princeville is breathtaking. I took lots of pics, but I forgot my uploading cable at home.

yah man that Prince is a test of golf, It kinda kicked my tail the both days we played it! LOL
