Aldila voodoo

Recommended Posts

I just got a xtd pro with the ysq shaft. I wanted to try the Aldila Voodoo. Are they available if not when? Lastly I want one for my f woods too, but what are the weights I saw on line that the heaviest weight is like 73g. Is there a fairway shaft? What shaft are the tour guys using in there woods? Thanks in advance.

When I called Aldila last month, they said they will be available to the public in the fall. No specific date or month, that's just what they said. Also, retail will be $350.

I'm currently playing the XVS8 in my driver (Hibore XL 8.5º) and 3 Wood (Hibore 15º). They really are GREAT shafts. Very tight dispersion.

There are several different versions on tour right now. They way they are labeled is like this:

First letter = shaft flex

Next 2 letters = bend profile (VS=VS Proto, PP=Protopype, DV=DVS, etc...)

Last number = Weight (8=80g, 7=70g, 6=60g)

Basically they are the same bend points and playing characteristics as the existing shaft lines. The difference is the Voodoo has "Score" technology, which is the technology Alidla uses to make the shafts more stable and less prone to deformation during the swing and striking with the ball.

I don't know what they will bringing to retail. If they will offer all the lines with the Voodoo technology or just some. On tour, they offer pretty much all the lines.

If you can get your hands on one of these, do it!!!! They are great shafts.

Very few will buy them for 350. If they would price them at 180 they would sell. Heck they are not even out yet and they are selling for about 100-150 on Ebay.

Agree. The $350 retail price quote came straight from Aldila and is pretty steep. The ones on ebay are usually pulls and like you said, sell for about the same as an Ozik pull ($110 - $175).

I think the $350 price tag will limit the amount they sell, but as we all know, there are many who will shell out the dough.

... Exactly right. I edited your post to reflect what will be released for retail sales compared to the existing Tour Only shafts (different graphics VooDoo) that are out there now. There will only be a 60 and 80 gm version of the VS Proto based VooDoo released. I imagine if sales go well, you would see a DVS based VooDoo version as well. The VooDoo is by far, the most stable shafts I have ever hit. I am also 99% sure they $350 is a MSR price. When I find out the street price, I'll post it.

For $350 you might as well buy the VS Proto for under $200. I agree that very few if any will be sold @ $350.

Hey thanks alot for the break down of the code. I always wondered how it worked. :) I wonder what the benefit to the Voodoo VS Proto bend profile would be versus a VS Proto?

Yeah, thanks for the code breakdown. :) I just had the VS Proto put in my 905R 9.5* a couple of months ago and it is an absolute cannon. I have hit the longest drives of my life with this combo - it's amazing how far the ball carries with a mid-launch. I'm thinking about a 909D3 with the Voodoo, but may hold off given how well I'm hitting the 905R.
