which hybrid should be my 06'er

Looking for help choosing a hybrid and these are the options: sonartec md, Nickent (DC or original) or taylor mid rescue?? Looking for feedback on recommendations. Thanks and may "06" be a great year of golf!!

You can't at all go wrong with the Sonartec MD. I'm not a huge fan of it's shape, but it's a great club.

For me it's a toss up between the Halo and Slingshot Tour.

I just traded out my Titleist 18.5° (5 wood) for the Sonartec MD 19°. I had always had a problem with the Titleist ballooning in a wind and the demo with the MD seemed to alleviate that problem while giving me the same distance, if not a little longer (220-230 yards). From reading various postings it also appeared to be a bit more versatile. I only had a chance to play one round with it so far and I was not disappointed. Let me get a few more rounds in with it and I will let you know.

Why? Well you can work the ball with it, hit it high or low, with the Sonartec (I have 2) all you get is a hard low boring shot, great if you wan to hit it far but it sucks if you have to hit it high and soft, especially if you are thinking about replacing a fairway wood.

This sounds funny because I am not a fan of any Ping golf clubs but the Ping G5 Hybrid is by far the best hybrid I have ever hit. It sets up square and hits the ball high and soft but it still cuts through the wind very easily. I have played the Hogan's, Baffler's, Nickents, Halo's, Mizuno and the Taylor Made and the Ping, for me, was the best.

Bridgestone j33 is the best hybrid I have ever hit! I absolutely love that thing!

I saw in golf world tonight that Bubba Watson averaged 318 at the Buick Inv. on the two measured holes. The amazing thing is that he used a Nickent 3dx hybrid 14 degree on both holes. WOW!!

i have been thinking about gettin one of these myself, great looking club from a very underrated company, at least in america. of the ones you picked out the nickent is a very solid hybrid and cheaper than the other two (don't know if thats a factor for you or not).

 

bit off topic but pga what is the tip diameter of the srixon hybrid b/c if i were to get i'd want to mess around with some shafts?

As much as it pains me to agree with a Hokie (Go Wahoos!), I have to agree with VTHokies and suggest that you try the Ping G5. I have been trying a number of hybrids this winter and much to my suprise (I originally did not like the look very much), I have loved the Ping.

 

If you don't like the G5, I recommend both the Sonartec and TM Rescue. I was not very impressed by the Halo, which surprised me since I expected to like it based on everything I read about it.

 

That being said, I am looking for forgiveness in a hybrid not workability. If you are looking for workability, I leave you to the recommendations from some of the better players on this board who can give you better advice.

I absolutely love the Callaway Heavenwood hybrids. They are just so easy to hit. I love Cleveland products, but demoed both the Halo & the Heaven and the Heaven was hands down better for my swing. The face is super hot & they go ridiculously straight. Good Luck
