how long will unused grips last?

as i have relatively small hands( cadet small size golf gloves) i find standard size men's grips a bit too large for me...i normally end up having any new set or club regripped with undersized grips(slightly larger than ladie's size).....undersized grips are becoming increasingly hard to find in proshops so when i found some for sale on ebay i grabbed 48 of the dual durometer model by golf pride.....i have since used about 20 of them and the others will just be for replacement purposes....i normally store these in a plastic bag in a cool dark place....would anyone know how long they will last in there?...i had a bad experience with some winn soft grips which fell apart after having been stored for about 2 years in the same place...the winn were brand new grips and unopend in their original plastic and when i opened them they just sort of distintegrated....would appreciate any comments....thank you..

I put unused grips in a freezer bag. Try to get all the air out before sealing and then roll the bag up and place in the bedroom closet. Have used three-year-old grips stored in this manner with no problem. As always, YMMV.

kinda in the same situation. pop in some moisture absorbing stuff like silica gel in the bag. use DIY tea bags to contain the silica. humidity kills rubber.

I can tell you at least some don't have a 10 year shelf life. I had bought some old golf pride velvet cords in about 1983, installed them, and stored a couple. In the mid 90s, I think about 94, I tried to put one of them on a club and it sort of disintegrated on the surface as I slid the grip on.

So, I would say a shelf life of a few years with at least some grips.

Bumping this ancient thread. I picked up some ndmc from golf works a couple months back. They weren't individually wrapped. They've just been sitting in a drawer for a couple months.

Should these be stored a certain way? I plan on installing them in a week or so. They feel fine but wondering if they have a shelf life. I guess there isn't a difference between them sitting on my clubs vs sitting in a drawer but just curious.

When I have them for awhile I put hem in ziplock freezer bags and try to store in a dark place with limited moisture.

So then should I be concerned about the NDMC's I bought last year? Was going to regrip myself but ended up with some gift certificates, so I had the pro shop do them. Been sitting in my office upstairs for a year. On the floor, next to a filing cabinet. Surely I needn't be concerned yet?

I just had my irons regripped with NDMCs that I had sitting in a plastic bag for 9 months or so - didn't notice any issues with the grips.

I wouldn't be concerned, but would store them in a bag.
