New 2009 Miura Y wedges...

Several people have asked me about the new Miura Y wedges.... so here are some pics.

 

This is a special grind developed and done by Mr. Miura's eldest son (Yoshitaka) designed for a variety of lie and turf conditions.

 

If you haven't already figured out... Y wedge stands for Yoshitaka Wedge.

 

Loft is 60* Bounce is 7*

Due to the radiused sole grind it has the versatility to play as either a high or low bounce wedge.

 

There are additional loft, bounce and special grinds due out later in the spring/summer.

I must say... I don't think they could look any better than they do. What I like about the grind that it seems so subtle. Just blends in with the wedge perfect.

man and i just got me a 2008 version friday

just got mine and assembled today with a kb tour shaft and just screwed around with it around the shops putting green and hitting area...found this wedge to be very versatile...dont let the 14* of bounce fool you...i found this wedge to be extremely easy to hit...absolutely amazing to see a wedge with such a simple grind to be versatile...

I go back and look at this beauty from time to time. I'm really trying to tell myself that I need a new wedge, this is the one I would be all over.

 

Does this come head only? Different lofts?

I just bought 3 Epon KGX wedges and i'm wondering if anyone can tell how this Miura wedge will spin in the ball in comparison.

The Epons spin the heck out of the ball, and having owned Miuras previously, I'd say the Epons give you at least as much, if not more spin. They both seem versatile but off tight lies, both wedges in 58 or 60 won't be the greatest if you want a very short, high lob shot -- they still have a tad too much bounce for that shot - which most of us should not attempt anyway. The Miura, though takes a little more off the trailing edge and heel than the Epon. The Epons are great wedges -- don't have buyer's remorse.

Besides the new 60 above, I've heard they're gonna offer one with around 58, less bounce, smaller sole for more of a firm turf (links) wedge.

Well supposedly I have some if not the first 'other lofts' Yoshi wedges.

 

got fitted for mine today by chip. I also looked at the 58,53, and 51 degree as well as the two I have.

55 is bent to 54. mine are shafted with nippon super peening.

I have one with the KBS shaft and have played several rounds with it. I like it, spins well, reasonably easy to hit, and obviously very nice to look at.

Recently bought a Miura Y grind 60 with KBS Tour - Love everything about it but spin is no even close to TM Tour Issue Fe203 it replaced.

Trajectory, feel and distance is perfect. Instead of stop and drop it is hit and release........Strongest part of my game is wedge play and looking for suggestions....otherwise i have a brand new Miura Y grind on the market.

 

Would love to know if this wedge has the rolled back grooves, as that would at least explain it

 

any ideas welcome-----anyone had same experience

I demoed the 60 -- if that is 7, it plays like a 14. I did not like the grind.

Try Phil Mickelson's hinge and hold techniques. That ought to help. I don't know what else to say except, if you're not going steep, go steeper; and bring the ball more towards the middle of your stance.

I have one myself, bent to 58*

 

I love it, I love how it hits and releases..

 

I used to have Vokey spin mill 60*, it takes sometime to be used but Miura works better for me.
