Chikara vs Zodia

The topic pretty much said it all. I am REALLY debating between the two brands. The Zodia is about $10 cheaper.

Besides the $10, at least you can call and talk to Carl in Hawaii about his wedges. Would you be calling the Zodia guy in Japan? BTW, I had 2 Zodia proto before and did not like it. Perhaps it is just my swing.

I had zodia, now i have 2 chikara wedges and for $10 more go and buy the chikara wedge in a different league!!

$10 is not a consideration when comparing clubs at that level. At those prices, find a dealer who will send you a demo. They are around. Make sure you are not closing yourself to other high level products like Vega, Epon, etc.

and the Chikara Proto's that have been my Gamers for about the last year.

 

Except for the Pings (sorry Ping Lovers) any of the above wedges would work and make just about anyone and everyone happy. I know there are a couple of more I'd like to try, Zodia and Vega in particular, but the bottom line is none of them have come close to knocking the CHIKARA'S out of the bag.

 

IMO, they are the most all a round, most versatile wedges.

I'm sure the Chikaras are great. The highest lofted models are attractive to me -- I just have something in the back of my mind that says the radical grinding of the heel says I wouldn't be interested in anything less than a 58 -- that grind makes it look unstable on full shots. At least, to me. Don't flame the poster. That's just how it looks to me.

A club has to look good to the person using it. I hadn't thought of the grind making it unstable. I haven't had that issue. I would also have to admit that very few of my "wedge" shots are full swings.

 

If you ever get the chance, give it a go with one of these guys. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Here is a chance to do your own grind. Tourspec is selling a batch of raw and unfinished head for $50 a piece. The heads are produced by Kyoei, maker/foundry of Vega and 'other' wedge houses.

Who's the other? I heard other then Vega, most of the "known" companies left Kyoei last year.
