On Ebay

I don't know if this is the right forum or if this allowed but here goes.....I have been on the TSG website for a couple of years. I've always enjoyed looking at all the choices but really couldn't pull the trigger price wise. Not that I think it's overpriced just that I can't personally afford the clubs right now. While surfing Ebay I saw a guy named eponaz selling Epon gear as a certified or authorized Epon reseller at prices that seemed too good to be true. I know.......but does anyone know how he does it other than the obvious.

Overstocked, economy sucks, blowing out to free up cash flow. Won't last any longer than the few extra's that are left.

Is this the guy selling heads only? I wonder how he is getting away with that?

I saw that -- emailed Epon to see if he is legit -- but they have not replied.

What has scared me is the seller's "no returns" policy.

I know the cost on this product is high and this guy is barely making it on the wedges and not making it on the driver and fairways.

Almost pulled the trigger on his items, but an impulse bid on a gauge cb maxed out my paypal limit. As shuttle1 said, it looks like he is clearing leftovers, there does not seem to be anymore iron heads in his listings.

If you snoop around and are patient enough, there are used JDM stuff going for much less compared to TSG in pretty decent condition.

yeah but if you think about it ALL products are like that. look at the new high quality macgregor clubs, they are selling for less than cost i know that. its simply, they need money, even if its at cost

I did email the seller and he says that he is an Epon dealer clearing inventory. On the drivers, he is losing money. I saw the AF-101 go for less than $370. Cost is far, far above that. I almost pulled the trigger but when someone says they are an authorized Epon reseller and there is no such designation on the Epon website and will not identify who they are -- and there are no refunds, I think it's best to walk away.

I saw on TSG that Epon is slated to release a bunch of new products this fall (though they did not say what they would be).

Could be the effects of the economy coupled with knowing that new product will be in the pipeline is several months.

Or, it could be a bad seller :russian_roulette:

I asked the seller about cost of shipping to Asia for 1 Epon 901 head? He quoted me $50 for a head that goes for $125. I just cannot justify the shipping cost.

He also quoted me $75 to ship the iron heads, I passed on his deals. It cost about $60 to ship a whole iron set from Japan to here, and about $40 for a putter from conus.

I purchased an AF-101 and a matching fairway from this seller and am very happy with the purchase. I already had an AF-101 Driver and I compared the head to my existing on and it was exactly the same. Came with the matching ferrule and headcover.

I saw one of the driver heads that this seller had on ebay after a shaft was put in it -- it seemed very, very upright.

I guess what I'm saying is that it is best to buy from a source whose identity you know.

I will just chime in on the fact that almost every single product on TSG is way way way over priced in my opinion, 850 for a driver, 2000 for irons, 500 for a wedge, 1500 for a putter, and keep in mind hardly anyones heard of these manufacturers here in the USA. Having said that I did buy a diamana blue ion band, because it's cheaper than the US version, even with 20 bucks to ship it over here.

I'm not saying TSG marks it up too high, I'm just saying when I saw the prices I was thinking holly sheit, Yen? LOL... but no USD$$$ - - I guess they're not hurting too bad over there having that kinda money to spend of equiptment, WOWZERS

Oh I forgot to mention 110 for a dozen golf balls, that's what??? um close to 10.50/ball .....ha, if a buddy says hey throw me a ball, I can say okay, but then you gotta buy me lunch and still owe me money

Oh, how come you don't mention the $520 for a brand new R9 Max Japan only driver or the $388 for a set of forged Geotech iron heads or $65 Geotech FW heads? All you need to do is surf the net and look at the JDM club site and look at the MSRP the do a currency conversion. You are picking out only the extreme cases. A set of Epon 301 is $1100 and most iron sets are around that range.

This is Honma 2009 Athport Irons available from TSG for $1,080 for 5-PW. This is just an example there are ultra expensive stuff from Japan but there are many more reasonable gear also. I know it is not still Walmart prices but everything is relative. My Matsu was way more when I bought them in Tokyo 5 years ago.
