My Bridgestone Ball Fitting challenge

Ball Fitting

I did the Bridgestone Ball Fitting challenge this weekend. You hit into a net, radar measured the swing and a camera measured ball speed and rotation. I used a 10* NVG2 head with Graffaloy Epic R (tipped 1.5"). Here are my numbers with a Bridgestone B330Rx

HS 103.1
BV 146.8
LA 13.1
BS 2090
SS +12
Dist 256

Not sure how true these numbers are. On the course, I usually bomb this driver.

For the more knowledgeable WRXers, are these numbers any good? The guy running the machine said they were good, but I take simulator numbers with a grain of salt.

your ballspeed is kinda low. typically you want ballspeed = 1.5 time swing speed. you want yours to be more toward 155 than 146.8. thats a lot of lost distance. could be the ball, the club, or that you just arent hitting the ball square.

other than that, launch looks good. spin could actually be a bit higher, but thats just me. you could be losing some carry yards there.

regardless, youre right to take these number with a grain of salt. b-stone wants you to switch to their balls, so they will show themselves in the most favorable light. typically they take the best swing with a bridgestone ball versus the average of whatever you were using. also, youre hitting into a net. nothing can compare to seeing how your ball flys.

What ball did they suggest to you? I did one of these things and they suggested the B330. I bought a box because I am sucker for anything that might help (plus I got a free visor :rolleyes: ), but I really love these balls. I defintely get more out the Bridgestone off the tee than I do a Pro V1, and I probably only wish I had a Pro V on one or two shots per round. And its not like it is a two layer ball or anything.

My ball was the Tour Fire.; I wanted to try the Zurs, but a bunch of guys were waiting.

BV 142.7, LA 13*, BS 2608, Distance 246.They fitted me to the RX.; Funny thing was, 3 ball down the middle, 1 left rough and 1 right rough. Two other guys had the same ball dispersion, 1 left, 1 right, 3 down middle. Prob. some marketing thing.<

I played with the freebee 2 pack they gave me, liked the ball...shot 1 under (35) on the front (made par on #9 after facing a 20footer for eagle!!!), of course that 3 putt killed my whole back nine (45!), Ouch. It was LONG off the driver, felt good off the irons, felt good off the putter. I'll think about picking some up.

i still think the b 330s is better than the prov1 off the driver.

I didn't do the Ball Fitting but a salesman recommended the RX to me...I tried them and loved it off the tee. Into the green was another story, I felt I didn't have the control or stopping power I desired. I then tried the 330S and really liked it, long off the driver and plenty of stopping power into the green. Plus, I like the feel off the putter. I'll continue to play this ball for a while.
