I had the same result. The RX is about 5 yds. on ave, shorter than the ix, However the RX is a much better feel ball around the greens. The RX has better spin. The ix has less spin for a high end ball but still works around the green better than most balls and is a good ball if you must have more distance. I did like the ix off the driver ( Mizuno MP 60, VS 65 stiff shift). It had less side spin as compared to the Bridgestone RX. I will keep playing the RX but might play the ix if I go to a course where I need the extra yds.

Got a free dozen last year when Callaway had that "good ball" promotion. The ball was good for everything except feel off the putter. The ball was so hard, it felt like a Rock-Flite. That killed it for me.

I did try the "i" ball and it had much better feel and didn't seem to travel significantly less off the driver.

However my go-to ball (and first preference) is still the Pro-V1. I won't use anything else in a tournament but I will use the Tour i for regular play without hesitation. Other ball I will use for regular play is the Nike One Black.

Experienced a little disappointment with the IX my last two rounds around the greens.

Twice, I played this hilly 18 hole course in near my in laws under two different conditions: first, a dry day with dry fairways, and rough and hard fast greens; second time their was moisture all over the place with the green quite a bit slower.

On both days, I had a hard time holding the greens unless I came in really high. Tried the Tour I for the first time, on the course's more moisture-ridden state, and it performed noticeably better for me on these greens. I usually play slower greens so that tackiness of the Tour i, and its slightly higher spin rate really helped here. Putts on average didn't roll as far and as fast, and I could judge the speed a little better.

I'm trying hard to have one all-around ball but so far I may have to play two. IX for slow greens, I for medium to fast greens.

Because of a new GolfBallSelector.com recommendation, I will be trying out the Srixon Z-Star X the next time around. According to some, it combines the performance of the Callaways and is softer and spinnier than both.

The Tour IX was the #2 GolfBallSelector recommendation last year. This year the Srixon Z-Star X is the #3 pick for my game.

The tour i is, hands down, my favorite ball on the market today. I have played through boxes of ProV1, B330 S/RX, NOP/NOB - Tour i takes them all. Durability is more than sufficient. Driver spin is well controlled. Short iron/wedge spin is perfect. I will agree with the clicky feel off of a milled face putter, but it doesn't affect performance in the least. Best thing about this ball, IMO coming from Las Vegas - this ball out performs all others in high wind scenarios, which is common in the desert. Cuts through the desert breeze like butter. Give me a lifetime supply of these and I'll be a happy man!

I feel like these balls really excel in what has to be the main objective of tour balls: they offer incredible spin on partial swings but manage to limit spin on full swings. as far as trajectory/ball flight with driver/mid/short irons, they fit my game very well but this is very personal. the big drawback of this ball is the feel with the putter. i played golf the other day with my sister who doesn't even really play. I hit a putt on the practice green and she said, "wow your putter makes a weird sound"- this ball is just like that. it feels like those old pinnacle titaniums. that said, i do prefer a somewhat firm feeling ball, and this is something I could get used to.

I tried this ball on Thursday and again today and believe it is the best ball I've ever played and I've been playing the Prov1 for around 5 years. Tried all the competing balls over that period of time and didn't really like any of them compared to the Prov1. Didn't care for Callaway balls at all because of the clicky feel of them everyone here has mentioned. But not even going to the distance, ball flight and performance tee to green, I will just say I love the way these balls putt and that has been the main reason I haven't switched to other balls that may be longer than the Prov1.

I'll will add that I had the Odyssey XG #9 putter, the same Mickelson uses, for 2 years but just replaced it with the Tour version of the same putter. I believe it's the same insert but don't know for a fact. But off this putter, for me anyway, it putts better than the Prov1 and I don't or haven't noticed any of that real clicky feel off any clubs.

Again, I will add that I have recently upgraded my entire bag with Burner irons, Cally FT fairway and Cally FT-IQ driver, so who knows, could be the difference for me.
