Fred Couples is still using his Callaway S2H2 Warbird 3 wood! Whatever helps get the ball in the hole.

Goes to show you how much more important the swing can be over (blasphemy)....equipment.

 

Of course you need some modern technology to be able to take advantage of the properties of todays golf balls but it does not need to be fresh last week...just has to fit you right!

 

Great performance by Freddy with equipment he trusts.

 

Too bad his putting stroke could not match his full swing in smoothness.

Definately, Freddy's rythm and tempo are way too good to produce that jabby putting stroke he's got inside six feet.

 

I think he needs to spend an afternoon with Stan Utley, really shake things up and get some feel back in his stroke.

 

The way he hit the ball tee to green he should have at least been in a playoff with Mickelson.

 

Despite all that, it was one of the most compelling final rounds I can remember. So much fun to watch. :stop:

Very true...i noticed it was the df proto as it had no tp signs and had TITANIUM instead! Newer doesnt always = better.

I'm all for "old school" stuff. Still play the original Titleist PT fairways (non-bore through) and a 975J is still known to hang out in the bag as well.

Freddie is awesome. i was pulling for him big time, especially after the loss at Riviera. It was painfull to see him miss those 4 and 5 footers. I'm sure the 510 and Callaway 3 wood will remain in the bag for years to come.

Thanks Croonie... I forgot to mention his "old" TM df in my post. I'll bet Bridgestone is glad they finally got him into a set of their irons.

He's actually playing a 580XD driver with old 757 shaft

irish, it is actually a 510 df w/ an old 757. his 580xd has a harmon shaft in it.

Last time i saw freddie he had a 580xd. Maybe he's went back to 2 510 recently. Either way it's good to see him playing equipment he's happy with and not chasing dollars with a driver contract

Sure would have been nice to see Freddie win the Masters. I could watch his swing all day. Like Freddie, I still play an old Callaway fairway wood. I don' t know what it is but I like it and hit it better than all the others I've tried.
