Push/riding cart heater suggestionsl?

I play all year in the Northeast - mostly push a Sun Mountain speedcart but sometimes I ride. The cold is increasingly bothersome and my putting suffers when I shiver. Ping winter gloves with built in pockets for handwarmers do a great job for my hands but it's not enough.

Any recommendations for heaters that take the chill off when playing in 30* - 40* weather?

My buddy uses battery operated socks... I haven't tried them but he swears by them.

Thanks for the reply iDrive. I checked their site and the Coleman Golfcat (not a misspelling) heater seems perfect.

If you can't quite wrap your mind (or your feet) around battery operated socks, consider toe warmers. I bought a carton of 48 Hot Hands hand warmers from Costco last year and they came with sample toe warmers (put them on top of your socks, either above or below the toes). Both hand and toe warmers worked great and lasted about 7 hours. Buying by the carton really saves $, which worked out because I must have given away at least a dozen on the course.

Get yourself a cart cover like the marshals have. Add the cart heater (or a tent heater which is probably the same but cheaper to buy) and you should be golden to matter how cold it gets.

Just ask a Canadian, we know how to deal with the cold. :rolleyes:

That's the combo I use. The tent heater is cheaper than the Golf specific one. If you use the propane that comes in the skinny blue cans (used for soldering), then those cans fits perfectly into the cupholders. The green Coleman propane cans are way fat and bulky anyway.

About 6 years ago, I was in Walmart and they had a stack of those Coleman tent heaters on clearance for $14. I just bought 1. I wish I would have bought the stack....

Genius!!! Thanks for your help.

Coleman's Black Cat tent heater (about $65 street price) vs $90 for the golf specific Golfcat) has same 3,000 BTU output & auto starter but also has a temp regulator and integrated floor stand. List price was the same but you guys were right - camping stuff gets heavy discounts.

Next, Champion golf cart enclosure with zippers on the doors is $50.

Cloeman site says 3,000 BTUs plus cart enclosure = 25 degree increase in warmth.

My foursome will end up buying me this setup once they start teeing it up in parkas and I hop out of my toasty blizzard blaster in a short sleeve shirt. :yahoo:

Both items may/should be available at Dicks. You should be able to use the Entertainment book coupons to save even more.

It's true that the golf cart cocoon will be nice and toasty, but as soon as you open the door, the temperature again drops to ????. The heaters are nice for warming up the paws though...

Before reading your initial post in this thread, I never even thought of bringing the heater while walking. I'll have to try it on my Speedcart.

There's always a two minuts window before the cold seeps in, and I can always play polo-golf... using the cart as a horse and swinging a club while sitting as I roar past the ball.

With a push cart if one in the cup holder isn't enough I might add a different model to hang from the frame.

My GF uses the GolfCat on her Clicgear most of the year-works great however you've got to be a bit careful as it does make the cart a bit top heavier than normal.

This is what we do (heater + cover). Work's like a charm. The only thing I would add is a blanket for the seat. Seems to be a must for my wife. It does feel nice though. Oh yeah, and hot coffee.

One tip, turn the heater off at the 18th tee (or the tee of your last hole). That thing is blazing hot and needs a few minutes to cool off before putting back in the carry bag it comes with.

After buying the cart cover and heater, go and buy a standard size bath mat (thick) and use it as a seat cover. Works wonders and the rubber bottom keeps it from slipping. And if you leave it behind, it's not too expensive to replace.
