Has anyone played

What are your thoughts on the new Callaway X Fairway Woods TOUR 15*. I am looking for something a little better than I have now and wanted to know the boards feedback.

IMO they are garbage. They have no length at all but i will give them props for there accuracy. Lots of people do like them but they just dont suit me i guess. I would highly reccomend sonartec and imo there is not a better wood company out there, they feel better, they have length, and they are fairly forgiving.

I couldn't disagree more with the previous post. That is the first negative thing I have heard anyine say about the X Tour woods. I love my 13* Tour. I can hit it out of just about any lie. The Fuji TP shaft is a quality stock shaft. Better than most companies use for OEM. Very solid, easier than a sonartec to hit off the deck. Sonartecs are the best feeling wood no doubt but you need to have a good swing to make them work for you. I like the ones I have but I am playing my X Tour 3 right now and have complete confidence every time I pull it. The constant alignment sole works on both the fw and the driver. I have actually changed my preshot to use it to properly align myself as I have a tendancy to aim too far right due to playing a natural draw.

Ya i agree. They are garbage. Unfortunately the concave sole does not work distance wise in the fairway wood. IMO, you should either keep the comp or just get a Nike SasQuatch. This is the best fw i have ever hit. An absolute cannon off the tee and ground. Good Luck Hunting.

Both the 13 and 15 are among the longest available out there today. Even with the Tour platform shaft the ball leaps off the face. They have both retired all of my sonnartecs including my custom SS-07s which I didn't think would ever leave my bag. Great size shape and sound. Did I mention they are accurate as well. Easily 5-10% longer than any sonnartec I've owned to date and they were the longest until now.

I demoed the X fairway today -- I was swinging well and the X 15 deg was very straight but only a mid flight. It was long but not as long or as high as my current setup - a Supernova 15/ZCom TW64.

 

But it is a nice club.

Thanks for the info, sounds pretty split on some who like and some who dont, I will have to demo a few 3 woods and see which work best for me. More opinions and reviews would be great from other members as well.

BTW, I did hit the X fairway 19 deg 5 wood - that gets a big thumbs up, too. Even with the stock shaft. I put the demo in my bag and all 4 shots I took with it that round - from rough and tight lies - were perfect - straight with a high yet piercing flight - no ballooning in the wind.

 

I can't figure out the flex - this was the stock .350 tip 64g regular flex and it handled my 100 driver SS fine. Maybe because it was a demo? lol.

 

It didn't sound or feel as good as my Supernova - but my son took mine out of the bag so I needed to play with something else. But it did perform.

I don't like the feel or the thud sound at impact. My TM V-Steel with SC75 UST Accra feels like butter and is staying in the bag.

i think the face feels quite hot imo. the weight of the club is good and the trajectory i got of the 13* was perfect. they look really nice at address too!

That makes sense.

 

I've always disliked the feel, look and performance of the V Steel. So it makes sense that you'd dislike the Cally X.

how far are you hiting the 13?

I hit the 13 on a launch monitor and it rolled out to 252. Just curious what others are getting.
