Bettinardi The Hawk Putter.....I found it in a used club bin for $14.99
Incredible feel for distance....the best ever after buying 23 different
putters in 47 years of playing golf.

So now I have 2 great putters, the other one is 3" lengthened Odyssey
Sabertooth XG. It's like having 2 hot girl friends!

In 2009 --

1. Pinemeadow Command BK driver; 460cc; 10.5 degree; graphite shaft; purchased online from Pinemeadow ~$120. My driving is way more consistent than with the old el-cheapo drivers from the sports store.

2. TaylorMade Rossa Daytona RSi - $80. My putting with this is way more consistent than with my old TaylorMade Pro-Formance putter.

3. Settling on just one brand/type of ball at a time; currently Nike PD High.

4. Regripped the irons with oversize to fit my hands.

I think that for 2010 I will try to upgrade my wedge(s).

Without a doubt, the Ping G10 9 wood. For some reason it works way better than the 3H or 4H that I have tried. It is my money club.

This is a tough one. I think I am going to say my SMT irons. They helped me the most as my swing improved and I didn`t need so much offset as I had with my old irons. After this my 17 degree Sonartec MD hybrid is next and any of my new large groove wedges is third.

Not very exciting, but my best buy of '09 was thirteen Tour Velvet cord grips for 18 quid, delivered, via eBay. Syringed off and in 9.5/10 condition, my face was lit up for the entire time it took me to put them on my clubs - given that the going rate in my part of the world is now topside of a fiver apiece.

Even if I had as much money as Bill Gates and Richard Branson combined, I'd still be smiling after a deal like that.

I bought a new 20° and only got to play 9 holes with it. But the results were great. I went ahead and picked up a used 23° that should be here any day now. So hopefully, these will be my best purchases this year.

This choice is between 4 items.

1) 9015D, obvious answer
2) 83X Blueboard, had never played a premium shaft before so spending $100+ on a used shaft was a mindset that I had to get over.
3) Project X 7A3 - Again cost was high, but so is the performance.
4) Cobra S9-1 Pro 13* 3 Wood - Been searching for a 3 wood that is long and straight for years now.

And the winner for me is the Cobra S9-1 13* 3 wood w/ Accra SE-90 M5 flex. The best fairway finder. I use it on almost every hole that is under 425 yards. Flies 250 and rolls out. If the fairways are hard it easily goes 275. I could get used to a new driver in a short amount of time. It might take a few more years to find a replacement 3 wood.
