going back and forth

hi all:jim furyk has been going back and forth between two drivers this year his trusty titleist 983k with a ust proforce shaft in it and srixon's new w-506 with a ust proforce v2.correct me if i'm wrong,but did i see furyk using the new srixon w-506 with the same type proforce shaft that his 983k has?does he like the ball flight and feel of the original proforce better than the new proforce v2?thanks :)

I work for Srixon, and I can tell you that Jim Furyk likes the OLDER pro force shaft.

I played the older proforce shaft about two or three drivers ago and now I play the V2. They have very different feels to them. I can see how someone who liked the older shaft wouldn't care for the V2.

Here are Jim's Specs on the Srixon 506 Driver he has had in the bag since Pebble....

The specs are 44.75 inches, 10.5* loft, D3, face angle 0*, proforce 65X tipped to length.

I work for Srixon, and I can tell you that Jim Furyk likes the OLDER pro force shaft.

So...can we expect a new fairway wood and hybrid from Srixon this year?

Dan, I bought the new wedge (52 bent to 50) and love it. I play a 983K right now with the stock Speeder. What is your view on the 506? How does it compare?

mfo, Glad you like the wedge, they are a work of beauty. As for the driver comparison I do not know, I have never hit the 983K. All I can say is it was enough for Jim to switch from the Titliest driver he was playing for the past 5 years. Granted he is on staff with Srixon, but he is not in a driver contact.

A more interesting note....Srixon has 3 players currently using the 506 driver....Two of which are the only two Srixon staffers to win this year...Jim Furyk and Karrie Webb.

The only difference between Jim's driver and the stock retail one is the tip size.

I was just in Ft. Worth and I followed Furyk on Thursday and Friday. He was playing the Titleist driver. In fact I was pretty amazed at the amount of tour players who do not play the driver that goes with the headcover or bag logo if you get what I'm saying. I spent at least 6 hours on all four days at the Colonial. I did as much snooping around as I could get away with and the driver that I counted the most of was the new Titleist 905R.

Do you happen to know what the retail heads are weighing in at? I just got the W-506 10.5º and hit it for the first time yesterday. I was quite impressed. VERY straight hitter, but it can be worked.

Mine came with the stock 59 gram shaft made by Mitsubishi. It's OK, but I'm temped to make my setup just like Furyk's for fun. Heck, it would sure be cheap enough with a $29 Proforce! ;)

I dont know the official head weight..all i know is it is light...and the stock itzu shafts play a little weak so its def worth putting in Furyks shaft...I believe Srixon will start offering that shaft in the 506 driver in August.
