Dynamic Gold S300 vs S200

True temper gives a different swing speed range between S300 and S200. Is there a difference that would be noticed by a good golfer? Would S300 softstepped be the equivalent of S200 straight up? Thanks.

I had S-200 in my irons last year. No change in flex, just a touch lighter. I could not feel the difference.

DG s200, s300 and s400 are all the same flex

S200 are about 2 grams lighter than s300 and s400 are about 2 grams heavier than an s300

That is straight from Mizuno, I have attended their fitting seminars

Really it is a way for True Temper to sell their defective s300 shafts, if they come out too light they are s200
if they come out too heavy they are s400
Quality control at its finest'

IMO you would not notice a difference between s200 and s300

That is why you'll see flex designations like R200, R300, R400, etc. Weight is the major difference -- 200 is lighter, 400 is heavier. R300, S300, X100 are the standard flexes. About 3 grams is the actual weight difference. For example an R200 may play a little more flexible than the R300 and the R400 may play a little stiffer than the R300 only because of the weight.[/background][/size][/color]

- Rule of thumb : 1 gram is 1 CPM

S200 is 2-3 CPM softer than S300
S400 is 2-3 CPM stronger than S300

Maybe the same flex but not the same sub flex.

 

Lighter weight in steel signifys slightly thinner walls ie more flexible and vice versa

 

Would you say that Rifle 6.0 and 6.9 is the same flex?

I was travelling and needed a sand and lob wedge. Shop only had Vokeys with S200 shafts. Given they were on sale and I needed them in a pinch, I bought them thinking the difference wouldnt be much... boy was I wrong! S200's feel light as a feather, and my wedge play has gotten terrible, especially on approaches. Cant believe the difference is only 3 grams, maybe when cut down to wedge length it's more for some reason

 

Taking them back to have a heavier shaft put in, probably play it safe with S300s

Sure they were dynamic gold s200 and not som lighter model.

taking s200s out and installing s300s is micro management to the nth degree.

The difference from the center of the S200 spec to the S300 spec is actually only 1.8 grams. I am not sure if you normally play Vokey's or have your Vokey's custom built but they usually come with S200 in them stock.
