Sonartec Hybrid MD contest! Check it out!

Recommended Posts

Win this club build by Sonartec Tour Van.
Hi all,

As you all know that the Sonartec MD hybrid is one of the top hybrids on most pro tours. Please check on my next post for recent success and spec. This contest is looking for somebody who has good writing skills for reviewing the club performance and shafts combo. It will be a Sonartec MD 19* set up with a UST shaft.

The Sonartec "TOUR VAN" will build 3 different set-ups w/ the same exact head. Shafts are the only difference on them, it will be X, S and R flex.

We need to pick at least 5 contestants for each group (Let's call them X, S and R groups ). There is no age or gender limitation as long as you think that you will be the perfect contestant,

Contestants will get to keep the club to play and hit on the range for 10 days - 14 days and then the club will be shipped to the next contestant on the list.
Sonartec officials will pick those 5 contestant names for each group. Sonartec will provide a UPS or FedEx account number to ship this club w/ ground shipment to each and every one of you and back to Sonartec office from the last contestant. There will be a piece of paper in the box for this information to the first contestant and please keep this paper in the box for the next guy to be able to ship it to the next guy and so on. Ball park figure will be 2 - 2 1/2 weeks until the next contestant gets the club in his/her hands.

To be able to pick these 5 person in the groups, Sonartec will need you guys to start by describing your swing profile and club set up in detail and why you will be the best candidate for this contest. A Sonartec official will be in contact w/ us in order to pick the final contestant in each of the groups. There will be a separate post and it will be pinned on top for members and contestant to read, write, review, etc. This post is only for members to chime in and give their opinion on who would be the perfect contestant.

The winners of this contest will received a brand NEW Sonartec MD club with the exact set-up (19* MD Hybrid) w/ the UST shaft that fits your profile.

Don't worry, the ones who don't win will get a gift from Sonartec and UST as an appreciation to enter this contest.

Sonartec Golf and Golfwrx officials will pick the exact date we will start and end the contest date. Then we will pick the winners. So for now we need to get you guys chiming in to be one of the contestants.

At the same time I would like to introduce you to Erik Boysen ( Sonartec1 ), His position is an Inside Sales Manager for Sonartec Golf in Carlsbad, CA. Erik will be the official person who will be in charge in our forum and take care of you with any your questions Erik has been in the golf industry for 7 years, previously with Never Compromise before Cleveland Golf purchased them. Besides managing the Sonartec sales team he is involved testing Sonartec prototype product and working with shaft manufactures on finding the next great shaft for Sonartec product.

Please just reply to this post w/ your info on why you'ld be the best candidate for this contest. We want to see your creativity and skill from the start. :)

Please do not email Erik directly as much as possible... as he is pretty busy already, so we don't have to steal to much of his time w/ unofficial stuff. I'm sure he will help us anyway he can for our questions re: Sonartec products.

Thx!

Hello Erik,

My name is Giovanni Oddo, I have been a GolfWRX member for over a year know. I have tried briefly most of the Sonartec fairway woods, and do enjoy them. My 3 wood that I play know is the SS07 15* UST Proforce 65 stiff shaft that has been in my bag the past 2 season, and absolutely love it. The rest of my bag consists of Srixon W302 9.5* driver with stock stiff graphite shaft, Nike Pro Combo Utility Iron 18* with DGS400 shaft, Srixon I302 3-PW irons with DGS400 shafts, Titleist Vokey Raw Wedges 53*, and 59* with DGS200 shafts, and finally a Odyssey White steel 2 Ball putter #@ Blade design. All my grips are Golf pride Tour Velvet, and Golf Pride Decade Red on the Putter.

I have a Slightly compact, upright swing. I tend to sweep my driver through PW and swing steep on my Gap and Lob Wedge. I have a smooth tempo, slow back swing and quick through swing. My swing Speed with my Driver is 110 mph, and my average drive totals out to 265 yards.

I have been building, customizing, and fitting clubs for 5 years, and have better than average knowledge of golf equipment and the swing. I feel that I would be a great candidate for this contest because like others on the forum I like to test out different brands of equipment and post my reviews and thoughts. I feel that I am unique in critiquing equipment in that I do not blame the club for poor performance but rather the swing that was put on it. I base my reviews on feel, looks, and performance based on my swing characteristics.

I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to test out the Sonartec MD as I was already considering buying one to replace my 18* Nike Pro Combo Utility iron. Thanks your for your time and I look forward to hearing from you via email and in your posts on the GolfWRX.com forum.

Hi, My name is Ari, I am 13 years old and a 4 handicap. I play in lots of junior tournaments and have done pretty well in them. If I were to win, I would be in the "Regular" category. My swingspeed is 88 MPH and my swing tempo is moderatly quick. I have yet to hit a hybrid club I like, but I have never hit the Sonartec MD yet. I would love to demo this club and write a complete reveiw. If you don't want a 13 year old to demo it I understand, but I can assure you I will not put sky marks or damage the club. Thanks for this contest.

From,

Ari

Hello my name is Jake and I am 14. I really don't know how do describe my swing, except that I take it back far and come back through slow and then at my hips I release all of my power. I have hit this hybrid into a net and really liked the feel. I would be in the regular category. Thanks for the oppurtunity to try a great club.

Mr. Boysen,

My name is Adam, I am 17 years old and just graduated from high school. I have been a member since December and am currently a Junior Mod. I will be attending Amherst College in Massachusetts in August. I will be playing for the golf team there, it is a smaller Division 3 program. I am about a scratch handicap now, depends on my putting, hehe finally solved that problem with some new glasses. I've played in and won various tournaments over the last 12 years, however, suffered from some unfortunate injuries in the past year and a half that slowed down my ability to play in tournaments (serious shoulder problem) that has now healed after great amounts of training and rehab.

My swingspeed with a driver is in the low 120's, so I guess that puts me into the "X" category. I am a higher ball hitter who tends to avoid hybrids as almost every one has been improperly fit for me, even with the access to good fitters, given that I live in Florida, a highly golf focussed state. I am a skilled player who thrives on the ability to hit the creative shot that I want to hit as my style is somewhat more aggressive, i.e. I rarely find a par 5 that I dont want to go after in 2. This causes me to be very picky when it comes to selection on clubs that go 250ish, and thus would make me a great candidate. If this thing can perform for me and make a believer of me I would certainly be your biggest proponent. I had at one point tried a tour prototype of this club (from a friend on tour a while ago) and liked it, unfortunately, had to give it back because he wanted to play it.

I have a very traditional swing, with a lot of lag and hip load, having worked with a top 50 teacher for a number of years, we modeled my swing after various pros to cause large amounts of lag, this coupled with long arms, in his eyes would create big power, which it has. The swing is pretty round, not really flat but also not upright. I use a strong left hand with a somewhat neutral right hand to take the right side of the course out of play as I've learned from experience and from forewarning, lag creates blocks if not timed properly.

My bag setup is pretty much what I would consider a long hitters setup, in that I play no hybrids because of the supreme workability and flight control I find I have with a 2 iron and 3 iron. I also play very weak wedges as most of the time when I hit tee shots its just a wedge into greens and I have found my wedge setup sets my yardages at just the right intervals for me. I used to play a SS-03 when they first came out, unfortunately, the head was so unbelievably long that it had to be swapped because it went too close to my driver.

I've always wanted to do club testing for companys to represent my swingspeed, skill level, etc. I think this would be the perfect opportunity for me to test a hybrid that you guys may be able to fit to allow me to become a believer. I am also going to play northern golf next year as I previously mentioned, and have learned from practicing, that in New England, everything up there is really really hard, so when the ball hits, if it doesn't come in high, its not going to stop. I think this would also be the perfect opportunity for me to test out a club that may be able to give me that ultimate height for coming into holes and holding the greens instead of having it run off with a long iron.

As a member of wrx, and a junior moderator, I would like to thank you for providing this amazing opportunity to us as members. It is not often that a company with the reputation of sonartec takes the time out to see what the consumers think, and I think that for others, as well as myself, it greatly influences our decision the next time we go out to purchase a club. The time taken out gives it that personal touch. Thank you very much for taking time out of your busy schedule to talk to us and provide this contest.

Bag contents:

R5 TP 8.5 w/ Accuflex Evolution X

Cleveland comp 15* UST v2 75 X

Cleveland CG1 2-9 DG X100 hardstepped

Cleveland CG10 47* 58* 63*

P.S. sorry for the extremely long post, however, I just got really into it and didn't even realize how long it was. Hopefully this can in some way represent the time and effort I would put into the review and testing of this club. Thanks again.

Thanks,

Adam

I am Nick Paez and I am a 16 year old golfer. My index it approximately +.2, but lately i have shot 71, 65, 69 and many other under par scores. I am a what you would call power hitter. I have a club head speed of 122-125 mph, but i am a very high spin player aswell. I have a hybrid and i hit it too high, so currently I have a gap for a club between 3 wood and 3 iron. I love sonartecs clubs, I have a ss3.5 in 15* that is my bread and butter club, but i have never hit the md and i would love to have the opprotunity. I would consider myself in the X group. Thank you for your time.

Hello,

I am Matt Smithman, I live in Sarasota, Florida, and am currently about to graduate from my freshman year at high school. I'm 15 years old and I play on my high school golf team. I will be playing in the 3/4 spot in the upcoming year. I haven't been playing very long but I love the game and think I have a very good feel for what I'm doing tee to green. My average score right now is somewhere between 77-80 due but i play a lot of 9 hole walking rounds and can go lower on those coming in at about 2 over everytime. I would love to right a review for this product and am sure i can give a full and extensive critique of the club.

My swing is always a work in progress but i am getting very close to getting it right and start playing in some tournaments. I am right handed and have an athletic set-up (comes from playing baseball for 10 years), my swing is usually at a good length and currently is a bit on the flatter side but still on plane. I like to also drop the club in the slot because everyone knows what the real killer in golf is, the over the top move. I am very flexible and about average height for my age, almost 5' 10", and I get a good turn and weight shift in my swing and for my skinny size and can put it out there pretty well. I play a draw but can work it either way if necessary.

You can see my bag set-up from my signature but anyway, I have a 983k 10.5* driver with the stock titleist shaft and my average drives right now are usually in the 250-260 range day to day. I have a cleveland launcher titanium 15* 3 wood and i have a Taylormade 19* Rescue mid which i love. My current predicament now, though, is that ive "outgrown" the stock regular flex shaft and my dad is planning on buying it from me so i can get a new hybrid with a better shaft. So if i was to be selected, i'd be in the Stiff flex category. I haven't gone out and demoed any new hybrids yet but the MD is appealing to me because of the great stock irod shaft and trying it out with an even better UST would be even better! For the rest of my bag, i have CG4 irons with S shafts and i also have 46 and 54 deg. CG10 wedges along with a Titleist spin milled 58* wedge to round out the bag besides my Odyssey #6 White Hot putter, a very traditional looking putter.

I believe that I am the perfect candidate because I am in the market for a new hybrid and enjoy the advancements in current shaft technologies. I also practice or play usually no less than 5 days a week and could get some good playing time and a good feel for this club if i was picked. I am looking for a hybrid that has good distance and control off the tee driving or to a long par 3 and really want something that offers great trajectory from the fairway. And of course, i love a hybrid that performs well of many lies and especially from fairway bunkers and i like to use my current hyrbid for long greenside chips as well. I believe that the Sonartec MD offers great performance for all of those situations and i'd love to try one out and hopefully get one. But, at the least, i'd like to help out other golfers in their decision in buying a hybrid and helping Sonartec develop the best new products.

Thank You,

Matt Smithman

Hi. I'm beruo, and I've been sober for about 9 months. :) (sorry)

I'm a vanity 15 'capper, who loses points on my shortgame, and yes . . . my putting. In my defense, I've been testing a lot of putters and while I don't see this trend ending any time soon, I'm getting much better. My driver swingspeed is just a touch over 110 when I'm smoothing, otherwise it's all over the place (helping to set myself up for some nice recovery shots--that's where the MD would come in nicely  ). I'm a somewhat strongish player with a smoothish tempo (at least I think so), and aggressive angle of attack--I don't sweep, and I don't clean toilets. I'm on my second hybrid this year; first a mizuno and now a heavenwood, but am very much looking for another change.

Now you guys say that you won't discriminate based on age or gender (and I'm hoping race, religion and all that), but the true test of an OEM's character is their ability to look pass dexterity. ;) Now whether or not I get to participate in this test, I'm hoping you guys make those perdy wedges for us lefties, and give us a shot at the SS-2.5 and 3.5 fairways. You did us solid with the SS-03 and NP-99, and yes again with the Md, but now is not the time to look backwards. It's the time to move forwards, or something. :vava:

Mr. Boysen,

My name is Vincent, I am 17 years old and currently a junior in high school. I am a starter on my golf team, and play to a 9 handicap. I've been playing golf for three years now, and enjoy the game immensely. I've been with Golf WRX since April of last year, and I am currently on the Junior Moderator team.

I don't own one bit of Sonartec equipment, mostly due to the fact that nobody in my area sells your equipment. I am not one to buy equipment without first demoing it, so I haven't taken the plunge and bought Sonartec clubs online. What I can tell you, however, is that I am very excited to try your equipment because of all the great performance I heard it provides the player with...and who can forget Todd Hamilton's 2004 victory at Royal Troon?

Regardless, I do play hybrids, and rely a great deal on them each and every round for par 5s and tight driving holes. I've found that they really do make the game much easier, but, because I was not properly

fit for the shafts (bought them based on one session where I hit them good), I'm not always consistent with them. I've found that my game has gotten into trouble because I hit into a hazard with my second shots on par 5s, and make a big number when I could've very easily made birdie. I'd play long irons, but the consistency is just not there, so I opt for the hybrid, which out of 10 shots, I'll hit 5 good.

My swing speed with the driver is around 105-110 (medium tempo), but I play stiff shafts because I don't like my shafts to feel too boardy. I am a high ball hitter, and my swing relies mainly on weight-shift and clubhead lag to generate speed, as I'm only 5'10, 160 lbs.

I feel with the right fit for a club to bridge the gap between my 3 wood and 22* hybrid, I can take my game to a whole new level, and start attacking more par 5s with confidence.

I'd like to thank you, as such a highly reputable equipment manufacturer in the golf industry, for taking the time to give Golf WRXers this opportunity to test your equipment. You will undoubtedly get great, honest reviews from the testers.

Sincerely,

Vincent

Great to have Sonartec onboard. I just dropped my BB04 3W/5W comdo because the 757 in the 3w broke.

I just picked up a Xtour 15* and am playing to go to a hybrid between my 3w and 21* fli hi. I have always prepared driving iron types over wood type hybrids. I have hit buddies' Sonartecs MD with pretty good success. hopefully Sonartec can pass on good pricing and shaft options (rifle and TX tour come to mind) to us on this site.

Mr. Boysen,

First off let me say thank you for the opportunity that you are presenting us with.

My name is Joe I am 55 years old which probably make me one "more mature" members of GOLFWRX. I play to a 13 handicap (if only I could putt).

My driver swingspeed is in the mid 90's with a medium quick tempo.

I play stiff shafts in all my clubs at the recomendation of those that have fit me.

I currently have 3 hybrid clubs in my bag. A Vulcan 17* which I'm not overly fond of as it seems to have too low a swing weight.

I also have 2 Taylor made MID rescues a 19* with a stiff steel shaft and a 22* with an Aldila NV 75.

Not thrilled with the steel shaft in the 19* and was either going to replace the club or have it reshafted with a graphite shaft. I was just looking at my golfworks catalog yesterday at the IROD shaft as one of the possible replacement shafts if that is the route I opt for.

Again thank you for a chance at this opportunity

Joe

Hello,

My name is Jeremy Allred. Im 30 years old and have two wonderful boys. With having children I dont get to play as much as I would like to. This is where your club would come into play, because my game needs the long irons and hybrids and that spot in my bag is empty. I think that the 200-220 yard range has always been the hardest for me to overcome. I would appreciate the oppurtunity to try this club to fill that lonely spot in my bag.

About my swing. I have always tried to swing like Fred Couples, and try to be as smooth as him. I dont always do it but my freinds tell me sometimes that I have one of the smoothest swings they have ever saw. I am a picker of the ball and done leave much of a divot. My swingspeed with driver is around 107 and I play a UST v2 75 stiff in my driver. I play off of a 10 handicap when I am playing. My three iron most of time is my 200 yrd club and it is all I can get out of it. I have a friend who I played with these clubs and he hit it at the pin with them everytime. I would like to do the same with your help, and be able to fill that yarage gap in my bag. lol.

Again I appreciate your sponsorship and making clubs that help people better their games

Sincerely

Jeremy Allred

Dear Eric:

I appreciate the opportunity to compete for the chance to demo the Sonartec MD transition club. I am a 32 year old resident of Tampa, Florida, and a certifiable golf club addict. Being an addict, I do not discriminate - I simply love trying all golf clubs. As my signature below indicates, I tend to be brand loyal from time to time, but my addiction usually gets the best of me after a few months, and I stray to my local pro shop for a new fix. In the past year, I have purchased clubs from Taylor Made, Titleist, Nike, Ping, Cleveland, and, yes, Sonartec (SS-03 and NP-99).

While I do not discriminate, I do tend to gravitate towards the high-end, player's market of clubs, so Sonartec's product line naturally appeals to me. My current bag set up is listed below. As you can see, I am a hybrid player, and have replaced both my 3 and 4 irons with hybrids. The MD demo opportunity interests me since I am always looking for an additional edge to aid my long game, and, as I mentioned, I simply love trying new golf clubs. I am a strong player with an agressive move through the ball. I typically carry my five iron 190-195 yards, and carry my hybrids 210 and 225, respectively. My driver swing speed is between 104-108, so I am a "tweener." As a result, I would prefer consideration for the "stiff flex" test group, but could also provide qualified testing for the "extra-stiff flex" test group if needed.

I believe I would be a good candidate for this program for the simple reason that I have a vast experience to draw from for the purpose of comparing the MD transition club to the other comparable products on the market, as well as the irons they would replace. This experience comes from having played nearly every players' and game enhancement offering from each of the major OEMs at one time or another, and from a career-long search for more consistency in my long game. I am a "feel" player, and typically choose a club based on its sensory qualities (sound, feel, and look), as well as its performance. I know that Sonartec prides itself in producing products that provide the discerning player, like myself, with able performance, asthetics, and feel. To this end, I would relish the opportunity to provide my thoughts on the Sonartec MD.

Whether chosen or not, I appreciate the opportunty Sonartec has provided this board, and hope to be able to lend my assistance in this testing.

I am a 30 year old 12-14 handicap golfer. Although I have a steep swing with my short irons and wedges I have a very flat long iron/fairway wood swing that's really shallow at impact. Because of this I ususally have problems generating lift and backspin on my long iron shots. My driver swing speed is ~100-105mph. I have a slow backswing and an awful transition that can best be described as someone having an epileptic seisure while getting tazered.

My current bag setup consists of Nickent 3DX-DC Utility in 19 with stock stiff flex UST Speed Rated 2 shaft and a 3DX-DC Ironwood in 21.5* with stock UST Speed Rated 2 stiff flex shaft. My 19* Nickent fit somewhere in between my 3 iron and 5 wood and my 21.5* 3DX-DC ironwood fit somewhere between my 3 iron and 4 iron. This setup allowed me to drop my 5w-3i-4i and add a gap wedge

Why am I a good candidate? I'm the ideal hybrid iron player. Longer shafts of fairway woods do nothing but flatten/shallow my swing plane which leads to low looks without much spin. Long irons do not generate enough spin because of my swing. As a result I have problems finding an acceptable long iron solution that

A: Does not hook

B: Generates enough spin to give my long iron shots an acceptable trajectory.

C: Doesn't generate TOO much spin which causes me to baloon them if hit too high up on the face.

I have a 10.7 index. I have a smooth swing and swing about 100-105 with the driver. Going at the ball hard is not my game. If I do, usually my hips clear too soon, my head bobs and I'll hit a chunky monkey pull to the left. So, I focus on consistency.

Two years ago, I bought a 19° Japan-only TourStage FUT with a Nippon 950GH Weight Flow Stiff steel shaft from a member here. It's been the best golf purchase of my life. I use the club from the tee, rough, sand, fairway and for chipping. It almost never fails me. I have tried many hybrids, but disliked anything with offset, as I play a draw, and anything with a graphite shaft.

I own the same club in 16° loft, originally with Nippon steel, but I did not get enough of a difference between the 19° to put it in the bag. I have an IROD in it now, hoping for a longer carry, but still I've had no luck.

I have never tried a Sonartec and I'd love to see if it can knock 'My Favorite Club' out of my bag. :)

It will not be easy, but if you're up to the challenge, I certainly am game.

I have been on the WRX site for roughly 10 months, ever since I found this site I have made it part of my daily routine to check the site and see what is going on. I am a golf and golf equipment fanatic. I played university golf, and worked in the golf business for 10 years until I graduated. That was 2 years ago, and since then I have joined the corporate world and I have been having a rough patch now that I am unable to play 100 rounds a year - more like 30ish these days. At the moment I have ballooned to a 5 hdcp, which has been treating me well for the money game  but not up to my personal standards.

My Golf Swing

I would like to start by saying that I stand on the right side of the ball, which makes me a Lefty golfer. I came from a long line of Scottish golfers, starting with my Grandfather Sr. who worked only so that he could afford to play golf - a true golf junkie. Then came my father Jr. who was a great golfer as a junior, but decided to take a different route and turn down his golf scholarship in order to gain a real education, back in those days guys on golf scholarships rarely finished with a degree. Then came me (III), a Lefty which I still get slack for, Sr. had a golf club in my hands as soon as I could walk.

I have a home made swing as I never took a lesson. Due to my scottish heritage I have short limps and big shoulders/body - meaning the opposite building of Tiger. My swing is a little flat, but I have a very big shoulder turn, which helps me hit it past many of the taller golfer I play against ;) I have never been able to play boring rounds of golf, I hit it everywhere and have always been a good scrambler on the golf course. I make lots of birdies and bogies with a few pars every now and then, I'm trying to improve that part of the game. I recently started using a rescue club - a 21'degree Sonartec MD actually with a stiff stock shaft.

I have a 100mph swing speed with my Tour Issue ( I love the feeling and sound of the rat glue - I never would be able to play 460 without it) Cleveland Comp 9.5 and Aldila 65x - this is a no hook set up. I have a diggers swing, and sometime do not launch the ball as high as I wish, but I have found a bunch of success with the Stinger 4'inch tees launching the ball on the proper launch angle. I now carry my driver 285+ and love ever minute of it ;)

I have always been a very strong iron player - as a junior I played Macgregor blades 1-PW for a while, Old School. I am a ball striker that still likes to work the ball, as I mentioned earlier I have never been a fairways and greens type of golfer so being able to work the ball definitely comes in handy :vava: When I first got my rescue club last season I was looking for a club that I could hit far out of crap lies - which I find on a regular basis. I do like my 21'degree Sonartec MD, and I think with a great shaft this could be a lethal combination - I have been thinking about putting a new shaft in for a while but I am not sure what. I do like to play a little weaker shafts in my fairway metal in order to work the ball a little bit, and thus have been thinking along the same lines for the Sonartec.

I think I would be an excellent candidate for this promotion. I know that being a lefty from Canada puts me at the bottom of the list, but I feel that I have a lot to offer as a reviewer. I am very much a feel player which can help when it comes to reviewing products. Please consider allowing a Lefty Canadian to take part in your promotion, as it will add a different perspective on the Sonartec product.

Cheers,

jd :)

Okay - after reading Sonartec1 post I will say that my swing speed was measured 2 years ago - I have edited the swing speed since I agree it could be a little slower these days. That said - my ball speed has been checked recently and it is in the high 130's to low 140's depending on when I take a rip at it. I do however like to play a softer flex shaft in fairway/rescue clubs in order to get the ball airbourne :yahoo:

When fitting these Sonartec Md's to individuals by flex for this contest we need to make sure that your swing speed is correct. The follow PGA tour players have the following swing speeds:

Bubba Watson: 126 mph 1st in driving distance on PGA

JB Holmes: 126mph

Camilo Villegas: 119 mph

Tiger Woods : 125 mph

Are people posting balls speed by mistake?

I'm concerned that if I send an X-Flex to someone and they can't get the ball up in the air is does nothing for you or Sonartec when reviewing this club.

Keep your information coming.

Erik :)

Hi,

I'm Jason. I'm 25years old. I have been playing golf regularly for the past year. I have about a 20 handicap. My driver swing speed averages around 110. I have quick tempo. Even with my fairly high driver swing speed I don't swing my irons as fast as most people with my swing speed. A stiff hybrid shaft would probably fit me better than an X flex.

I've never had much success with long irons. I currently use 2 Sonartec TRC's in place of my 3 and 4 irons. I probably should have stiffer shafts in them they both have the stock regular flex shafts. I would love to try the MD to see how the newer club compares. I would also like to see if my accuracy improves with a stiffer shaft. I also am very happy with my NP99 3 wood.

Hi,

My name is Jeff and I'm a 31 year old golf addict. I'm 6'0" and 180 lbs, brown hair, green eyes... The ladies say I'm not too shabby on the eyes... with the golf swing it's a little different. I have a very quick tempo that always places me into the "X" category. I'm too old to change; it's my swing now. I just moved to College Station, TX, where it can be quite windy and humid which forces me to be a little more creative than when I was in Tucson, AZ. I work just down the street from one of the local courses and often play 9 holes on the way home. I play 18 at least twice a week and live across the freeway from a driving range I frequent. I used to be better at golf, but currently shoot "radio stations" frequently. Like the other day at an easy course I shot a KRAP 97. Sometimes it burns real bad... the game, I mean. I've been looking to add a hybrid to my bag to help with a gap in my yardages. I have only owned one hybrid for a very short time (about 30 min at the range); a 20 degree Heavenwood which did not fit me well. I typically play a draw, do not like clubs with too much of a closed face and have heard the Sonartec may suit me well.

My swing speed with the driver is between 108 and 112 mph. Four club fitters (2 local golf shops, 2 company sponsored [Callaway and Mizuno]) have all told me the exact same phrase. "Wow... You're not afraid to go after it." At first I took this as a compliment, but taken with comments from other golfers, I now realize it means, "It pains me to watch you swing so fast." Or I guess it could also mean, "My back can feel your pain." I was looking for a hybrid to fit into my current set as I have begun to realize the hard Texas greens do not hold much, and any height advantage has real potential to stay on the green. My woods have 13 and 17 degrees of loft and my 3 iron has 21 degrees. My thinking was to get a hybrid to help get the ball airborne as well as to then switch to using a 15 degree wood. I think this would provide me with a better game in the 215-240 yard range where I currently lack a suitable club. This, I think, is where my game could have a better chance at making improvements as I am much better with my 8-PW than with my GW, SW or LW. That was another self-realization for those that did not see it; I actually try to play to my stronger ball-striking clubs now instead of not thinking about tee position and always using the driver.

Thank you for your generous offer and consideration.

Mr. Boysen,

My name is Bryan, and I am 15 years old. I have been a member of GolfWRX since last September, and am currently a member of the Junior Moderator Team. I have competed in many local and sectional events in the past with some sucess, and this year and the years following I will be playing in National Touranments (through the AJGA, FCWT, and the IJGT). I am a 2 handicap, and the aspect of my game that normally holds me back is my putting.

My driver swingspeed has recently been clocked at 109MPH, and I play a strong stiff in all of my clubs. I am currently playing a Cleveland Comp 9.5 with a Grafalloy Stiff (tipped 0.5"), a 904F w/ Grafalloy Blue, Titliest 503H 22º w/ Aldila NV 85S, Cleveland CG2's w/ PX 5.5's, Vokey 50, 54, 58 w/ S400. My swing is somewhat upright which alots for a moderate to high ball flight with every club in the bag. While I play a 15º 3-wood, there is a very large gap between my 3-wood and hybrid which has caused me some problems in the past. It has always been an ambition of mine to test clubs for various OEM's, and this seems like the perfect opertunity.

I do play a hybrid right now (Titleist 503H), and have had a very strong interest in trying more wood-like hybrids, such as the Sonartec MD, TM Rescue, etc. Like Adam, I play on Northern courses year round, and for most part, our courses are very hard. While I like the versatility of my 503H, but my gut is telling me to transition to somthing that not only will get the ball up a little more while filling in that gap, but be easier to hit all around.

Eric, I would like to thank you, Sonartec, and UST for giving GolfWRX this opertunity to test out your equipment, where as without your help many of us would not have this opertunity. I look forward to trying your clubs in the near future as I have heard many great things about your product.

Many thanks, Bryan
