If it isn't too far out of your way Southern Dunes is my favorite layout in the Phoenix area (and I have played a lot that areo n the list on the top of this post). For the prices you can get off of golfnow.com it is well worth the trip IMO.

Golfweek does two top 100 lists: "Classic" (pre-1960) and "Modern" (1960 and later). They also publish a list called "Best Courses You can Play" which are public access and broken down by state.

Not surprising, Arizona has no courses on the Classic list. Seven AZ courses appear on the 2010 Modern list.

Given that golf course design is an interest of mine, I have broken down the 2010 AZ state list by architect. The number is how many courses that designer has on the list

Had one more round to book for next week and was hoping to take advantage of the 'walking rate' at TPC Scottsdale (Champions) but apparently that only applies to their twilight rate after 3pm.

Currently looking at [b]Anthem[/b], [b]Troon North[/b], [b]Wildfire [/b]& [color="#ff0000"]???[/color]

Odd... Unless they have recently changed, the walking rate had been any time, any day. I would try to make a call right to the course pro shop and ask.

It was Ryan at the Proshop who advised me of the twilight walking rate.

Any other mid-range options in the northeast? Considering [i]Vista Verde[/i] (which I played 3 years ago and loved) but wouldn't mind something different.

I don't see how TPC Stadium or the TPC Champions course be on the top 25 in AZ, TPC Stadium is well maintained and the service is great, but as courses on their own, they are just ok. Vista Verde is better than either of those 2 courses. Just my$.02

Really odd since I just walked the course on wen at 7:30am for the 49$ walking rate with no issues

I stopped by the proshop this afternoon and directly booked the walking rate for Friday morning.....the original guy I spoke with must be a rookie.

It's all good (but now considering changing to Vista Verde anyways)
